Anyone any ideas on this- my great great grandparents marriage in 1872. In the impedimentum column of the register it says this. The marriage was between John Ryan and Catherine Davis on June 1st.
If my interpretation of the entry is correct, it’s a very interesting dispensation –
    My reading is
    “In 2 et 2 gradum
    consanguinatis dis-
    pensatio a cardinal
    Cullen princips"
English - In second and second grade of consanguinity dispensation by Cardinal Cullen, primate.
The last word looks like ‘princips’ which means ‘prince’ and that would fit with cardinals and ‘princes of the Church’. The repetition of 2 and 2 means they were double first cousins and possibly why it was a cardinal who gave the dispensation. How does that fit with the genealogy of earlier generations?

I can only suggest going to the site at http://census.nationalarchives.ie/search/vob/index.jsp and then entering the info I gave--
    Name--Michael Herrick
    County--King's [note spelling]
    Townland--Knockbarron
He is number 10a on right-hand page. Thanks.

Thanks an absolute million! That's a turn up for the books. I'll have to do a bit more searching to see where that fits in. It's a part of the family tree I'm only getting to now.

Second marriage down on this page

What do you read for the first witness?

Also the address of the groom and bride's mother's surname?

Based on the capital 'B' and 'S' used elsewhere in the same document I would reckon

    Bridget Bernie

Looking for help with some bad handwriting on the civil marriage record of Jeremiah Delahunty and Hannah O'Brien married in Clonmel in 1890.
I can't make out the place of marriage or residences of the groom and bride.
Also, I suspect the groom may have been previously married but I'm not sure does it say widower or something else under condition.

Also, is the place of birth Claran for their son Edmund born 1892?

Would make a stab at place of marriage being Powerstown, on the outskirts of Clonmel and definitely widower.

    Hi,
Could anyone try to work out which church this wedding was in? I believe the marriage was in north Dublin city but I can't make it out.

Thanks mick. I can see Powerstown now you mention it but not widower though I don't disagree with you that that's what it says.:o

Any thoughts for the place of birth of the son?

Amazing! Thanks so much. That adds up perfectly. The grooms parents also married in that church.

Several of my family too, on both sides - finding the thread I referenced really helped me out.

Witnesses – Murricane and Margaret Sweeney

Bride & Groom of Mall and Rope Walk.
Bride’s mother is Maria - she does not have her surname listed, parents are described as 'Michael & Maria Burns (?)

John Cole and Mary or Norry Wixted perhaps....

I go for Pole - the P in Philip and the first letter of Pole are identical.

I'd say John Pole and Norry or Mary Wixtead.
