What was the plumbing issue? Leading to a bacterial or other microbial source?

Four cases of a rare disease in such a small town is probably significant (dont want to do the stats :/ ), but not impossible.

Damn nasty syndrome for those concerned, glad to see the paralysis abated.

http://www.hpwarehouse.net/manuals_files/fixing_the_filling_loop.pdf All four had pipe work connecting the two systems . 3 had filling loops connected , the other one had the over flow from the heating system going into the main tank in the attic ,even if disconnect 2 still have dead legs in a warm hot press just under the main tank . http://www.imakenews.com/bfoster/e_article001572653.cfm?x=bgcRPFG%2Cbgc6spVG%2Cw

I know nothing about plumbing, its witchcraft to me. But warm stagnant water is pathogen paradise, I wonder are these fittings common or rare and maybe local plumbing practices made them more common in Duleek.
That said correlation does not equal causation and this may just be an unfortunate coincidental cluster.

I have a petition in front of the P.S.O.P Oireachtas committee who have recommended legislation based on my finding . Their recommendation will outlaw 60% of the plumbing connections done since 2000 #p00040/2014 it near the bottom of this page . http://oireachtasdebates.oireachtas.ie/Debates%20Authoring/DebatesWebPack.nsf/committeetakes/NVJ2015032500002?opendocument#H00050

These figures were published a month after first debate in April . To date not even an environmental officer has called to any of the four houses 1 1/2 years since the last case that we "KNOW OF" . Guillian Barré Sydrome is not a notifible disease . now that the press have contacted the Hse on Friday suddenly they want to check the houses which is progress of sorts for a change .

Meath Co Co installed over two hundred systems with dead legs in hot presses last year in Mornington Heights Trim , where there have been many tests and deaths but they never checked this .

    Locking this thread for now.

    [In My Honest Opinion]
Making sure water in the heating system gets heated enough to kill pathogens and making sure there are effective non-return valves on the drinking water supply is why we have plumbing regulations.

So there is nothing here relating to biology. [Please see the charter]
It's like saying unpasteurised milk has some risks, in a country where you wouldn't be allowed to sell the stuff.

Boards is not a medical advice site either.
From the previous thread over in plumbing this looks like a plumbing issue that could only be associated with work that didn't follow the regulations and/or using counterfeit parts. So for legal reasons we can't go anywhere down that road because Irish laws on defamation are very clear in the sense that a trip to the High Court means loosing your house even if you win but aren't awarded costs.

From what I gather on that thread most plumbers are aware of possible problems and advise their clients if they encounter non regulation work.

Also that you've already been in contact with the relevant authorities.
