The transfer window just gone will be key, should clyne, Milner, firminio & Benteke become hits this season top4 is quite likely. Ings and Gomez aren't expected to be as influential as the other 4.

Lots to play for yet chaps, the season is only 4 games old.

Well I have to say clyne , Gomez and milner have impressed me a lot so far. Benteke has done a decent job I think it will take time for him because you do need to gel with the players that play behind you and well firmino hasn't looked that great but he didn't get much a chance to settle in yet. I do have high hopes for him.

Well the window is almost closed and we got our business done nice and early. We have upgraded a number of positions and have done as much as I expected. There is a good squad their to challenge for Top 4 and compete in Europa League whether under Rodgers or another manager. Clyne, Gomez and Milner look good while I think given a bit of time Firmino and Benteke will prove to be successful signings.

Most significantly our direct rivals United and Arsenal haven't signed any significant game changing players.

I still see Sturridge as that player to come back in and transform us, he knits the midfield and attack together like no other play does in our squad. Fit and firing which I hope he is after last season, he can get us 20 goals.

Ilori not given 1 game while we perservere with Lovren all because Ilori is a commitee signing. Disgraceful tbh .

Just out of interest and no ill will meant, but why do I only ever see an 'alternative table' on Liverpool forums?

Probably just because we had Morzadec who went to the hassle of setting it all up a few years ago, and now have K-9 going to the hassle of keeping it going.

It's an interesting look at the table with an eye on the level of teams played, but needs someone to actually put in the effort of keeping it up.

Please make it stop. Lovren the ****ing donkey still playing despite being one of the worst signings in the clubs history. Extremely highly rated young cb's who got rave reviews for his performances in the u21 euros this summer going to be let go on loan with an option to buy having not been given a chance. I'm so annoyed at the goings on at the club at the moment.

I don't get the Enrique hate, i think hes a fairly solid full back who could still do a job if needed. He's no worse than Moreno, and has shown that he can be better

Yup aside from just being injured for ages, he's done nothing wrong. Has had some bad games, but to be honest has had far more good ones.

If we're not replacing him i'd rather he stayed - one specialist left back isn't enough.

It's also another potential option for a makeshift winger - very annoying that we're even having to think of using fullbacks as wingers, but thats the situation we're in - not a single natural left winger in the entire squad, and only one natural right winger. Reminds me of the days that Riise was the only decent option at either left wing or left back (aside from an injured kewell).

I think they just decided to switch to an "end of work day" kind of thing instead of the old midnight shenanigans.

The ilori deal, wow. Chased after him for a while only to loan him out constantly and never give him a chance. Now weve a jokeshop defender in lovern, skrtle who is erratic at best, a past it kolo and our best centre back sakho is getting ****ed around. Laughable.

Absolute head melter. Didn't play a single game for us, bought for £7m, loaned twice. I actually can't get my head around it. When we got him and Sakho I thought it'd be "Sakho for now, Ilori for tomorrow". As it turns out, it's neither, and we persevere with bloody Lovren.

Michael Hector has completed a £4m transfer to Chelsea but he will remain at the Championship club on loan for the rest of the current season. That makes 33 players out on loan from Chelsea this season

    I read somewhere online we've 25 out.

    Thats a staggering amount.

That transfer breakdown is shocking. People overseeing these transfers should be removed immediately.

But hey let's see if our target man can take 20 league goals from his arse with no supply. The Committee - Transfer geniuses

It truly is ridiculous. It smacks of confusion and mismanagement. All this talk of Rodgers 'philosophy' and 'death by football'. It's all spoof and blather. We're into his 4th season and the proof is in the performances. Aimless.

Not that many, but it's a lot by LFC standards. The difference is that Liverpool don't buy 'em to loan 'em unless its necessary - Lille/Origi for example

Rodgers gave up on "death by football" 3 months into his career at Liverpool.

So will Rodgers go for 3 at the back against utd that saved him from getting the bullet last season. (tactical genius)

It also means he doesn't have to drop Lovern.

he'll go 3 at the back and if we play well he will stick with it until we are beaten... rinse and repeat..

I think it has something to do with having new players signed before the CL/EL teams need to be registered which I think is midnight

If FSG really have Klopp lined up to be the next manager as someone posted yesterday(ITK?)that I saw quoted can they just put us all out of our misery and sack Rodgers now!!

The lift that would give the club going into the the Utd game would be amazing.

he merely put it to one side while Suarez and Sturridge tore defences to shreds.

Would it be fair to say the majority here now recognise that Rodgers is not the man to lead the club forward?

I hope every player that gets injured playing for the club is ridiculed in the same way as Enrique while they are recovering from those injuries by the Echo.

Sometimes I can reconcile things like Ilori. Sure I think he deserves a chance but at the end of the day the manager sees him in training everyday and knows much more than myself. I don't have that faith in our manager. I think this is more of the sideshow of the transfer committee versus Rodgers. Hard to back his judgement on centrebacks when Lovren is playing and Sakho has been frozen out. Clearly Ilori wanted to stay and fight for his place as he said as much even stating he was happy to wait his chance in cup competitions so its clear the manager must have had a word to tell him he won't get playing time if he stays.

I feel like we are doing things to the long-term detriment of the club all revolving around a manager who lets face it is hanging on by his finger tips.

Dude, I don't know what the **** to think...like, the manager is one thing, but things like this Illori deal are signed off by a hell of a lot more people than just Rodgers. Would imagine it's more at someone elses feet than him in fact - all Rodgers part should be is "will you use him this season, yes/no"...the reaction to "no" should be a loan deal - the option to buy is very annoying, unless its for some obscene amount of money.

Enrique can stay forever if he keeps posting pics of his missus. Could probably upgrade her every decade or so

He should be returning his wages to the club and he shouldn't be smiling or enjoying his life in any way if he's not playing football.

After the second season we had i was happy to write off last years performance mainly down to the fact that it was the best I've seen us play attacking wise in the EPL era. It was genuinely mind blowing football. Many might laugh or think I'm exaggerating but some of those performances were excellent. Also, on the last day of the season an EPL trophy was at Anfield, it was improbable that City would lose out, but still, there was one there just in case and that did not happen for 20+ years. I would have thought we should try to emulate this seeing as it was very successful football. We seem to be going a different direction and it hasn't really paid off.

The Stoke performance last season really annoyed me but i was happy enough to see what he done to rectify our problems over the summer and get us back to that 2nd season form. This season looks to be panning out the same performance/tactics/approach wise as last season and I'm now far from convinced BR has done enough. I'm still happy to give him time but I have serious doubts now that he can actually make us successful.

It seems like the more this squad becomes his own the more average we look. I like BR, I would love if he did turn it around and delivered, but at this stage I'd have major doubts, and even after an ok start the signs are there that he hasn't learned at all and we will be found out with our poor displays.

The whole transfer committee aren't right to lead the club forward imo.

    New direction is needed

As it stands, I kind of wish the window closed a week ago.

Really don't want to lose Illori or Markovic. Whatever people think about Marko, just the option of a bit of width and pace makes the opposition have to change things up to match - speed is literally a game changer. All we have with that genuine pace out wide is Ibe now.

The player doesn't need to even do much more at times than exist to have a major impact - like Nabil El Zhar back in 08/09. Not a great player, but he added width and opened the field up just by existing out by the touchline. Proved a crucial difference in a number of games that season without needing to actually do much.

Also, would have been confident Marko in an attacking role would have knocked in a few goals - would be confident of him outscoring Ibe over a season with similar minutes.

Well we are covered for the double injury to Clyne and Moreno scenario then.

But then we don't know what is going on behind the scenes BR could have froze him out completely. He seems to do that with players. So I can't blame the bloke for seeing out a big contract and enjoying life.

It Pissed me off that James Pearce is Rodgers very own spin doctor and it is no coincidence that it was balotelli a few weeks ago and Enrique now.

    Pathetic really

    Absolutely baffling behavior.
