Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can't see the game, in work, but I think a lot of people here should stop using a training game, which this is at best as a basis for judging how a player will do at PL level.

Horse-bollocks, Origi will score 30 this season and Teixeira will set them all up.

    You're just a hater.

Seems like we've bentekeing ages to get it finalised :(

I think everyone and their granny is aware of that, just let people enjoy seeing the team play for the first time since May.

Nice win but as always I'd place zero stock in friendly games.

The main thing is nobody injured

But have you not heard? Friendly games are hugely important and reflective of how your season will pan out. Those wise Man United fans said so last August before being annihilated by the titans of MK Dons.

Yea, sorry, I'm the opposite,I hate friendlies and pre-season games. No edge in them at all.

This was the first game of football that anyone gave even half a damn about since May and you're wading in here telling us we're a bunch of sad sacks.

    You may be right! :pac:

Looking at goals next season, would this be realistic for a PL goal return.

Sturridge (if fit) - 15 goals
    Firmino - 10
    Coutinho - 10
    Henderson - 5-10
    Ings - 5-10
    Origi - 10
    Ibe - 5
    Milner - 5
    Lallana - 5-10

You need to score about 70 league goals to get into the Top 4, if we added a 15-20 goal striker like Benteke, that should be enough because I do feel we have goals all over the pitch.

There is a lot of variables there though, we need Sturridge fit, Firmino to hit the ground running, Coutinho to show is 2nd half of the season form over a full season and the new lads Origi and Ings to have a decent 1st season.

Can't see both Firmino and Coutinho reaching double figures. If Sturridge stays fit (highly unlikely) I think he'd get close to 20 as his record is very good when fit. There's also another 5-10 to come from defenders and such.

Hmmm i think you are being incredibly kind there.

Sturridge (if fit) - 15 goals The likelyhood of having Sturridge fit for a long period is low. I would put him 5-10.

Firmino - 10 Asking a lot to come in and get 10 goals in your first season.... Again id say 5

    Coutinho - 10 Reasonable
    Henderson - 5-10 Reasonable
Ings - 5-10 Cant see Ings getting much game time so would say 3-5
Origi - 10 Im not sure here. 10 is probably reasonable if he gets game time but again its his first season and hes very inexperienced.
Ibe - 5 Im going to say more like 2-3
    Milner - 5 Reasonable
Lallana - 5-10 Reasonable depending on game time.

Goals are still a major problem. Top class striker is needed.

Liverpool Football Club can confirm Raheem Sterling has completed a transfer to Manchester City.

The 20-year-old departs Anfield after 129 appearances and 23 goals for the Reds.

    Liverpool FC wishes Raheem well.

Same here, I was expecting a London club to jump in and start the bidding war, but the wedge that City are reportedly giving in wages would put anyone off competing for a 20 year old.

I honestly think he's after digging his own grave on this one, and I'm reading articles and comments from ex-players saying the same.
He wont get the same chance at City as he would with us. A poor run of games and he'd be out of the first team and find it difficult to get back in.

But, on the other hand, he was our main man last year and alot was solely on his shoulders, and it wasn't great for him.
The season previous where there was less pressure on him with Suarez and Sturridge and that was were he grew.
He should have that same freedom at Citeh with Augero and Silva along side him.

Have to say the club have handled the whole Sterling issue very well.

Sad to see Sterling's ability and potential go from a purely footballing point of view but he has handled himself very badly to get his transfer.
But he's gone, club is extremely well paid, time to put it to good use and improve squad.

Would be great to prove Sterling wrong over the next 5 years.

Quite, if only Real Madrid or even Chelsea had made a offer. Could have got another 10-15m to waste out of the little tyke.

They wouldn't just be doing Liverpool a favour as they could 'potentially' limit City's willingness to spend big on other targets, thus doing their own cause no harm!

Navas played 47 games for them last season. Sterling is a massive level above him. He will get plenty of a chance at City.

True, I expect Sterling to take Navas' place in the starting 11. But any dip in form and Navas is back in.
Sterling hasn't really had to deal with that yet.

I couldn't disagree more with this.

Navas actually has some semblance of an end product, he's miles ahead of Sterling IMO.
