Traditionally it has been engineering graduates who made chief. There are a number of other relevant degree courses now around the country such as Carlow IT BBS in Emergency services, as well as some relevant Masters programmes. I would imagine that Chiefs of the future will come from these as well as the traditional Engineering route.
