Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi there,

I would like to do a lot more open water races, but I am not a member of any swimming club and thus am not eligible to enter the leinster open water races.

I see that special membership of swim ireland is possible for 25 euro, and you then pay for races individually, but cannot enter the liffey swim (one of the ones I really want to do) and a few others which they don't really specify on the website.

Are there any clubs in leinster that are really cheap to join, and I could just train myself as usual and swim under their banner? Are the races cheaper if you are a club member or is it the same deal? I live in Dublin and swim most days at seapoint.

Thanks for any tips I know I sound like a cheapo but the whole point of ditching gym membership and taking to the sea was to exercise for free and I am a poor student with lots of debt ! :o

Well when you register with a club, swim Ireland membership is included. My Club TSC are always looking for members. It costs 50 euro for the year. Races are not cheaper once you join any club....10 euro a sea race, some are more. 35 euro for Liffey and Harbour. But it goes to 60 euro now if you don't register before a certain date.

Hi, I just saw today on the triathlon Ireland website that members can now get a special swim Ireland membership for €15 and take part in certain open sea races.
