We love space probes to the Moon and beyond! Spaceprob.es catalogs the active human-made machines that freckle our solar system and dot our galaxy. For each space probe, we've affectionately crafted a short-and-sweet summary as well as handpicked geeky hyperlinks we think are worth exploring. Where possible, we utilize data from the Deep Space Network.

Good few I knew nothing about, interesting little reads.

Akatsuki is a space probe that was intended for Venus but failed to enter orbit around the planet in 2010 when its main engine died. Now in orbit around the Sun, the probe will attempt once again to enter into an orbit around Venus at the end of 2015. Once at Venus, Akatsuki will study the weather, atmosphere and surface of the planet. The mission also hopes to confirm the presence of active volcanoes and thunder on Venus.
