Looking for dog agility clubs in the Naas/Kildare area. I have a non registered pure bred so IKC not an option. Thank you.

I think there has been some confusion. When you originally asked about entering competitions, I think people thought you meant conformation shows. You can enter IKC agility events with an unregistered dog, crossbreeds enter them as well. Contact Judith, and when your pup is old enough, you will be steered in the right direction. Have fun.

As muddypaws said, I assumed you wanted to register you dog for show. Agility dogs don't need to be purebred and you can register them with the ikc its just a little different as it's basically there just keep track of your grades and stuff like that. I think this is the form you need for that:

I happened to have a purebreed so she was already registered so I didn't have to use that particular form. And you won't need to bother with it until you are ready to compete and that is a LONG way off.

To find classes join "The Official Irish Agility Group" on facebook, they are generally quite helpful and might know someone good in your area. I'm down in Cork I'm afraid so I don't unfortunately.

I thoroughly recommend doing agility with your dog. I do it with my girl and it's an awful lot of work but it's so much fun. And requires far more patience than I ever thought I had

Your dog has to be at least 18 months I think before he can compete but there is a lot of work you can be doing in the mean time, starting with clicker training and lots of play time and socialising. When you join a club they will tell you the best things to be doing as every trainer is different and they all have their own techniques.

On that facebook group they will mention any upcoming competitions and I'd advise going to one to see what you are getting yourself into. Particularly go to any fun shows that are on, Fingal normally hold them in autumn and spring, they are a lot more laid back as they are more for training so everyone will be more talkative. Pepper is only 2 so I've only really been to those as she isn't ready to compete yet
