Is Rock Salt a good (great) remedy for weeds on a gravel driveway?

If so does rain wash it away and hence you need a weeks dry period after application, or does it have the effect of going deeper in to the roots?

I'm also hearing to keep it well away from flower beds as they will go too!

    Thanks

Salt works well, it will kill weeds no problem
Keep it away from anything you don't want to kill, same as any herbicide.

What is Rock Salt? is it the same as the regular table salt?

No, rock salt is the larger granules. You can find it in Lidl in the salt section. It shows the larger granules on the blue pack.

AFAIR, you penned a note somewhere saying salt would also kill moss in a cobble lock driveway.
Just wondering what concentration you have in mind: gms/litre or ?
    Is there any residual staining?
    Thanks as always

Rock salt will act no differently to table or cooking salt - which are cheaper.

I was thinking that a big bag of cooking salt would go further than rock salt - unless you are talking about the stuff that is used on roads to de-ice.

There was a good reason why they used talk about salting the ground after defeating a place in battle, so that nothing would grow. It is a chemical and is as toxic as weedkiller to plants.

Anyone know how you would apply it? What ratio with water etc?
