Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Munster v scarlets
    Connacht v Munster
    Ulster v Leinster

All huge games now with so much at stake

their next 3 games are home and away to Glasgow with a home game against Ulster in the middle.

I think we could be looking at a record minus points difference and or record least points scored.

Could be good news for the Pro12. RTE's new Director General is on the board of Munster Rugby. Hopefully that might encourage Ryle to get the finger out with regard to rugby content shown on RTE the next time the media rights come up.

scarlets 10-0 down after 12 minutes against the blues.

scarlets 6-15 now. blues have two tries. 25 gone

All the Welsh teams play lovely rugby, it's just a pity they don't have a national team coach who would let them express themselves more

18 - 9 to the Blues at half time, if they win it would be a great result for the Irish teams

A TBP win for blues puts them 3 behind munster if munster get zero tonight.

I don't remember Warburton playing like this for Cardiff for a long time...

28-15 to the blues now, 3 tries. cant see a way back for scarlets

28 15 to Cardiff at the moment. Very impressive performance

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 424 ✭✭neelia11

scarlets just won a scrum against the head in the blues 5m line and got over, game on again. 6 behind with 8 minutes left.

It's getting tasty as well. It's almost as if some of them care!

Down to 14 men as well now, the Blues. Could be an interesting finish.

6 to go and blues down to 14

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 424 ✭✭neelia11

blues hang on. cardiff have dragons, ospreys and embra left. they could win all three of those games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,978 ✭✭✭✭irishbucsfan

If this is what Cardiff are going to bring for the rest of the season then it's certainly possible they can save their season.

I'd be interested to know when was the last time Sam Warburton was man of the match in a Pro 12 game

63 Leinster [Embra and Treviso at home wins should be enough for home semi as glasgow have to play connacht]
    63 Connacht
    61 Glasgow *
    58 Scarlets
    55 Ulster
    53 Munster
    52 Edinburgh
    48 Blues

    * Assuming they TBP Zebre. Three games to go.

Connacht-Glasgow may well be a double header, last regular season game and semi final, home team determined by the 1st result

if connacht lose to munster and glasgow they could be RDS bound for the semi final

Probably only if we finish 4th .. Maybe. Would prefer Glasgow home or away though

Anyway semi final for Connacht is more and more likely and would be massive, bottom of the league 5 years ago

Glasgow are away to Zebre next week so should get the tbp and jump into third on 60 points.

Leinster get 10 points from 3 games puts them on 73. [Embra 4, Ulster 1, Treviso 5]

Glasgow get 18 points from 4 games puts them on 74 [they have zebre twice and scarlets away before connacht away]. Its more likely IMO glasgow could top the table.

I don't think Glasgow will get 18 out of 20, and do think Leinster can have BP in Embra. They are my favourite

Glasgow have a lot of momentum building now and the two zebre games wont slow that. Scarlets might but they cant defend so can see Glasgow maintaining that. Either way the connacht v glasgow game is going to be huge

It's a game between close rivals in the league. Because a win is worth 4 points it's almost like the game is worth 8 points (because you gain 4 while your opponent stays still)

Basically when teams are very close in the league - the winning team will win 4 points and the loser will lose out on getting 4 potential points
Gets messy when BP are included mind ha

Cardiff get tbp over dragons and munster lose and get 0 in galway and they drop out of euro spots.

Notional inter-provincial table after round 5 of games

    Leinster 8 +37
    Ulster 4 +4
    Munster 4 -20
    Connacht 4 -21

Its a shame they don't award that trophy any more

Yeah three huge games there and not just for the sides involved but for Ulster as well.

The Pro 12 really does step up post 6Ns. Pity it wasn't like this the rest of the season!

Cardiff v Dragons has a bit on it for Cardiff [TBP is vital] but a dragons win would be huge for munster, ulster

Just looking at the remaining fixtures and they favour leinster hugely. 4 points v embra and 5 v treviso should be enough for a home semi. Glasgow play scarlets and connacht.

Is it PD which separates two sides level on points?

No, matches won and then points difference after that.

I think Connacht can and should win their remaining 3 games. Munster at home would be the toughest but I think Connacht should be aiming to take 4 points from that game. If they follow that up with wins over Treviso and Glasgow they'll finish top of the league. I think it's more likely than Leinster beating Ulster.
