Sent a charity SMS, now charged to unsubscribe?

    On facebook a friend put up a video from Brendan O'Carroll looking for donations for a good cause to a text number, I sent this, expecting to be charged €2, but then I get a text from a crowd called Freetext letting me know that this is a subscription and I have to text STOP to the same paid number to unsubscribe, and get charged another €2!
    Is this a scam?
    A land line was also included but it's out of state.
    How should I unsubscribe, how do charges accumulate on these things?
