Can you get Irish health insurance when abroad

    I'm doing a wildlife rehabilitation course in Costa Rica. I'm travelling to Peru first, staying there a while and then travelling to Costa Rica so I'm unsure when I'll be there. The course asks that you have proof of health insurance when you get there. You cannot get health insurance there if you're not from Costa Rica.
    The course starts every Monday, so the dates are pretty open. I have never gotten health insurance before. Is it possible that I can get it online, and print out a confirmation email? The course is three months long.
