    Head to the gleneagles so!

Well it's a funny place. In fairness if you don't take yourself too seriously you

can knock a bit of craic out of the venue. I haven't stayed there because my

parents live close to Killarney. So I can't comment on the accommodation side

of things. But if you are up for a laugh it's great craic.

Someone on this thread mentioned the Lisdoonvarna crowd in Killarney. They

are the best ever. I live in Clare now and the older women come to my local

hairdresser to get their hair done for the matchmaking festival. They are

hysterical to listen to. I just to say who men to go to Lisdoon be aware!

A 30 min promo for a political dynasty business. Wild horses wouldn't drag me into the kip.

Fintan O'Toole has a bit more about the say on the whole thing than just that..

But I love the fact that it is cringy. You couldn't make this stuff up.

It reminds me of Father Ted. Oops I just had a Dougal moment there.

Father Ted wasn't real, this is. I'll have to keep repeating this to myself.

It must be a nightmare to cater for the amount of people in the hotel on a given night.

Florrie O Sullivan won the dance competition. It's been years since I heard the name Florrie.

I know, I was just talking to my husband about that. He's from Galway and treats us folk from Kerry with a degree of suspicion.

He asked what would be the formal name be like as what would be on a birth cert?

I'm stumped. Would it be Laurence?

I have no idea. Can you help?

Florence, fairly common older male name in Kerry, not so much these days, usually shortened to Florrie.

I am intrigued. Why was Florence given as a christian name?

Possibly cos their dad and grandad and his grandad were too
Or else a favored aunt was a nun named Florence
