    Back on the 5th!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,429 ✭✭✭Woshy

I can't wait! Last year every time we watched it my husband complained that there was no baked goods in the house and watching it gave him serious cravings. This year I'm going to make sure to bake some nice treats each week to eat while we're watching it :)

Saw this last night, all twelve bakers and who they are!

I hope that guy in the hat removes it when baking and the nose ring too.

Does anyone know what they're making the first week? I think it's usually cake week? Just need to plan what to bake to eat while I'm watching it :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,005 ✭✭✭✭Toto Wolfcastle

Yeah it's cake week. There are a few short clips on the website that might give you an idea of what they're making. Think they're geo-blocked though because I couldn't see them earlier.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,005 ✭✭✭✭Toto Wolfcastle

Actually they have a description of what they're making if you click on the episode on the website.

It's Madeira Cake for signature, frosted walnut cake for technical and black forest gateau for showstopper.

Excellent - will think of a nice cake to make, something new maybe. I love cake week :)

Tonight I made chocolate cupcakes and the icing on them looked like dog turds. I don't think Paul and Mary would be impressed. Tasty though!

Some burnt edges in evidence, but not a sign of a soggy bottom so far!
What are y'all nibbling on? I just finished dinner so no baked goodies for me this week!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,793 ✭✭✭Red Kev

Nibbling on a bag of walnuts ironically. Have to lose over 30 KG in the next year, which is about 5 stone, so I won't be baking much.

    :(

Tuned in at the end of the madeira judging.

Stick with it Kev, since the end of the last series of GBBO I've lost 4 and a half stone which is around 28 kilos... I miss cake sometimes but I don't miss my gut!

    Yeo.

Two Scottish ladies doing well, the Granny in particular is doing the early running.

And Tamal, he's one to watch out for. (meaning he'll be gone next week if my predictions are anything to go by)

Fine line between confidence and cockiness there.
