Flora could be a builder, that cake is so straight.

Didn't see much booze in those cakes BTW.

Called it based on the first challenge...

Couple of seriously dodgy looking cakes in the preview next week.

Oh I'm so glad Bake Off is back :):) and this year my shifts have changed so I can actually watch it 'live' instead of rushing home from work, making dinner and THEN finally watching! Yay!

I can see 6... but it's early days yet. Thought that lady was lucky to stay in after the cake disaster at the end.

    My six...........

    Two Scottish ladies

    Tamal

    Lady with the headscarf

    Fireman

    Paul Doppelganger.

The Chinese fella as a dark horse.

Bodybuilder lady had ideas but is falling down on the basics,

It's like flora is auditioning for her own show already.

God spent that whole episode drooling. Could have eaten everything

    Yay Bake Off!

I like them all so far, although I can see how Flora could become annoying. I liked Stu but he was too ambitious given that it's the first week and he couldn't pull it off. I loved his clothes so I'll miss that!

My favourites so far are Nadiya and Tamal.

Some of those show stoppers were brilliant. I don't even like black forest gateau but I'd definitely give some of them a go. I made chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches to keep us going. I think I'd go mad watching all that cake if I didn't have something sweet to eat.

Alvin, yup I liked him. The quiet one. One to watch.

Anyone else irritated by Flora already? Smug.

Her face when she brought her black forest gateau up was incredibly smug. It looked amazing, and the judges said it tasted amazing too, but the bloody size of it was way over the top. I've ordered 7 layer cake in America twice (big enough for 3 people to share) and they weren't even close to being the size of her cake. She might settle down a bit though so I'll give her a chance. It was pretty funny when she forgot to turn on her oven.

    ,

She got lucky because Stu was so rubbish!

I like Marie and Tamal. Which means they will be gone shortly :D

Marie, Sandy, Tamal and Mat to go far hopefully.

    Great start. I'm hooked already.

I need that walnut cake in my life, drooooooooool.

Like Alvin, he seems like a nice guy and I like Marie as well.

But as someone else said, you NEED to be eating something when watching it, tis an awful bad programme for the waistline. Biccies next week, some of those 3D biscuit things looked eh, interesting :D

I cant do that as Im watching My Kitchen Rules followed by Bake Off with The Great British Menu recording to watch after Bake Off. Oh and of course Masterchef NZ - I would be the size of a house! :D:D

Hahaha! That is why i cant/dont watch any cookery programmes apart from GBBO - I have zero willpower and MUST have whatever they are having :)

Don't think there is one that I don't watch - or at least have given it a couple of episodes to check!

Only just after watching last night's episode. Loved Tamal's pistachio madeira, it looked amazing! He seems like a nice guy too.

Stu just wasn't up to the standard of the other bakers. I would have thought someone participating on the show would know how to make a basic caramel.

Great episode, so many lovely cakes! Biscuit week ahoy!
