what criteria do you have to meet?

are you over a certain age? not that i know, was never asked.
does the car have to be a certain brand? nope, was told as long as it's 15 or older
do you need a second "daily" car? nope, it's my only and daily car
how is the mileage verified, do they just take your word? NCT?, but they never asked

with AIG. all you can do is ring and ask.

So €650 in the end and I only got that as I knew the fellow I was selling it to and he knew it had been looked after.

650 is a great bargain considering those micras are reliable little cars. I sold one of those for 1200 not so long ago :( just shows how things change

It is not laziness on behalf of insurers, they just won't get in to a fight they cannot win. Our laws in Ireland give us very generous entitlements if someone else does us wrong (negligence). It is not just motor accidents, it's trips, falls and workplace accidents. When you have the lawyers, backed by the medical profession, quoting chapter and verse on THE LAW, the only option insurers have is to get out for as little as they can by way of costs.

Can it be a coincidence that the only part of the Troika requirements that Ireland has not implemented is to introduce legislation to bring down legal fees and to end the current messing that goes on in our Courts.

Thats one thing the Troika got right, but seems the Government doesn't agree... I wonder why?

    No Coincidence at all.
Too many lawyers, barristers and friends of the same pool in Government to make any change at all.
Its a shame and is a real threat to competitiveness.

Much easier to just make the plebs pay a bit extra every year for the privilege of living in their own houses, way more bang for your buck

Only some insurers use the 15 years and then only really on what they deem to be classic cars. In their view, yes, a 15 year old BMW 840 is a classic car and yes maybe even a Mazda MX-5

But not a Toyota Corolla, VW Golf, BMW 320, etc.

Don't give people false hope, dude!

I'll glad you agree an MX-5 is a classic - but Carole Nash don't. Not even a 25 yr old one.... 😠

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
