    If a person is self-employed...
and then they want to take up typical payroll/PRSI employment...
What is the procedure with the employer setting up this person on payroll properly so they don't go into emergency tax and so on?

Ring the Revenue with your pps number your employer's tax number and your start date.

Revenue will issue your tax details to the employer.

Ask them to reinstate your PAYE credit presuming you meet the criteria for it.
