I don't think Irish people are casually racist? We make casually racist comments and use non PC language quite a bit but I always put that down to culture, darker sense of humour than other ethnic groups.
    racist humour, then.

I think most nations tend to have a conservative, me and my own attitude from the general public. As a group, people's politics tend to suck.

Okay, so what's the difference between being "casually racist" and making "racist comments"? Cause it reads to me like the latter is to try and soften the image of being the former. And that approach, which I stress is not a dig at Deedsie, is making it about white people problems (and this also happens with homophobia, sexism, etc. etc). So the people with the advantage in society continue to have the advantage and distract attention away from people with the disadvantage.

With jokes relating to race, it depends on what the joke is and who the target is.

GOB (Bluth) in Arrested Development has a stereotypical black puppet that he, with apparent sincerity, wants to use to educate and break down racial barriers but the duet he does with Franklin is about how tough it is for white and "brown" people. The white problem is his own individual insecurity about his intelligence while Franklin's been having #children all over toooown cause that's what They do. On top of that he doesn't understand why the black sound guy makes a quick getaway before the song can get going.

That is casual racism. The joke is on white guy GOB for being dumb enough not to see he's making things worse despite good intentions. Character is being racist, scene is being used to highlight his ignorance.

[I'd do a racist joke here to give an example of one but I really don't wanna.]

The Mr. McMahon character and his ass is the butt of the joke when using a racial slur for John Cena. Booker T is there call foul.

The actual Hulk Hogan somehow thinking all black guys are the reason his daughter has walked out on him? *racism klaxon*

And the disclaimer for all that is that this is in my opinion.

Don't worry, I'll go back to being the guy that spams gifs of R-Truth in a Confederate outfit in PPV prediction threads soon enough. tongue.png

    Feck
The National Enquirer is reporting that due to making conflicting statements to the FBI and the lawyers for Gawker.com, who Hogan is suing, it’s possible that Hogan could serve jail time for lying under oath. They cite court transcripts as stating that Hogan told differing stories to the respective entities.

The Enquirer stated that during a July 2 hearing, a Gawker attorney told the judge that he’d learned Hulk made statements under oath during a deposition and to the FBI that are “directly at odds with one another.”

If it is determined he lied to Gawker’s attorneys, he could be charged with perjury. If he lied to the FBI, he could be charged with obstruction of justice.

Hogan (Any wrestler) telling different stories about something that would never happen.

I don't believe a private rant in a private home 8 years ago can kill a big star's career long term. I wonder if this doom and gloom is to show lost potential earnings from whomever released the racist rant. If Hulk can prove it was Gawker he'd have a strong case, much closer to that $100,000,000 he's looking for

When people are aggrieved about a certain situation ( this being hulk feeling his daughter has abandoned him for a guy ) they tend to focus on certain insecurities of that particular group. I've heard people say in anger the old mother trucker or that fat c*nt. I don't feel that what he said had any real malice behind it he was venting on a a situation about particular group in the most offensive language possible to that group of people. In my eyes he is not a racist and in no way deserves the Benoit treatment

    What is CBB?

I would imagine it's Celebrity Big Brother. That'd be some get for CBB if true, but a sad, sad decline in the career of the Hulkster.

Get Kendo Nagasaki on there and they could set up a big money feud brother!

So when does this start airing? I'd say this is going to be a pretty good watch while he lasts!

Think Thursday is its launch night. I take it that he won't be allowed to discuss anything of a legal nature while he's in the house.

Is this the US or UK CBB?

They took Tila Tequila out today over Nazi sympathising. Would a scandal like Hogan's be overlooked?

Considering its usually a show designed to rehab celebrities from past transgressions, it wouldn't be an issue. Have him go in, shed some tears and apologies, and he's grand.

Well it was anti racism campaigners who complained about her so I doubt they'll risk another backlash by bringing in Hogan
