    The use of the Irish language issue to try and avoid charges is not unusual. It is particularly damaging to the language because if there is a high profile case that somebody escapes justice on, there will be a strong backlash against the language.

    There won't. The people who hate Irish will use it as an opportunity to reinforce their prejudices and attack a minority. The next day they'll move on to something else marginal and weaker to hate. Haters are going to hate, and bullies are going to bully.

    The rest of us will just take that for what it is and move on.
