what's the max charge iD can charge for data roaming per day? I'm on a 20gb plan here.

According to their current info you can use all of your available bundle in the EU with each MB being charged €0.0615 roaming fee.

    No daily cap as such.

If you roam regularly in the EU you might want to consider meteor as they have really free voice/sms roaming and give you 1 GB data roaming a month for free while ID will charge you for voice/sms/data always.

    is there not a cap?

From the EU regulators site: From 30 April 2016 onwards, the roaming fee equal to domestic price + €0.05 may not exceed €0.19 for voice and €0.20 for data. The roaming fee equal to domestic price + €0.02 may not exceed €0.06 for SMS.

Those caps are per minute/SMS/MB. So, if your domestic rate is 17c per MB you can't charge any more than 20c per MB.

That is a pricing cap per unit (minutes/text/data) they can charge that per unit.

ID allows you to use your inclusive bundle units in the EU and only charges the roaming fee, so there is no cap per unit because it's only the roaming fee.

Making a 1 minute call to Ireland/EU will cost you 1 unit from your allowance plus €0.0615.

Sending a text to Ireland/EU will cost you 1 unit from your allowance plus €0.0246 .

Using 1 MB of data traffic will cost you 1 MB from your allowance plus €0.0615.

If you don't have any allowance available anymore, than they will charge you €0.2337 per minute, €0.0738 per SMS and €0.0717 per MB.

Those out of allowance rates for voice/sms are also the maximum they can charge under the rules, data is way cheaper.

Note that the EU webpage prices are without 23% VAT.

    Thanks guys. Not too bad.

Bring on June 2017 for free roaming!

It's not as good as other providers (like Eir/Meteor/Vodafone) have, but it's not a bad solution giving the price level they have for their base product.

Also this for Pay As You Go too, if you look at the discussion about Tesco Mobile where they are having higher rates and claim they are allowed to have those, ID for once has a better product on Pay As You Go.

Signal seemed fixed for a few days but its been hit and miss the past 2 days. Could barely get through a youtube video all day.

Anyone else still having problems. There's been times I couldn't even get a connection.

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear!

ID runs on the dysfunctional Three excuse-of-a-network with all the same problems that Three is having plus the additional ones due to the amateur nature of ID's front-of-house processes and billing.

If you want a functional network you need to avoid all the Three re-sellers and move to Eir/Meteor or Vodafone.

Considered a move to Virgin. Do they have an exclusive network?

They are also using Three, however they are using the old O2 masts, hence no 4G.

Plus their customer service is bad, no strike that the worst.

Yeah same here, it's back to crawling and more importantly SMS are now again severely delayed which is nightmare if you bank still wants SMS authentication instead of having an app.

Would eir be a better network than iD in terms of coverage and stability? Their 20p/m business plan looks great.

Eir mobile and Meteor are on the same network, theirs so you don't have to deal with any 3rd party issues.

I was with Meteor for a time and always had excellent coverage in Dublin/North County Dublin with good 4G but others have different opinions, check the Ask Meteor Thread before buying.

Had no data from around 3pm yesterday. Only now got it to work. I emailed them about another issue a week ago and still no response. Think this is the final nail in the coffin for me from this piss poor excuse of a network. Anyone recommend 3 with their unlimited data for €20 p/m?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,250 ✭✭✭Yggr of Asgard

My data also came back this morning but it's crawling despite having good enough network coverage.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,799 ✭✭✭KELTICKNIGHTT

Mine came back this morning too it's slow. I was with Vodafone for 17years and no problem like this except there night Price plans.
I'm with idmobile under 3 months and data down 3 bloody times. If they keep this up I contact comreg and get out of cotract and move because I'm not putting up with this crap I'm paying for

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,799 ✭✭✭KELTICKNIGHTT

Had chat with idmobile .they said there's no guarantee won't happen.i said you could warn people through social media instead of people telling idmobile.
I said if it happens too many more times I'm gone from idmobile

Last night I had to find a free Wi-Fi spot to send reports to work before I headed home. That's very sad when I paying for it and can just go anytime.
It's just happens too much.3 times in less that 3months . Never had this bad with network before

I went back to a monthly bill-pay plan on Three after giving up on iD Mobile (details earlier in this thread), and no complaints so far - 4G available with no noticeable issues of speed and availability (Dublin 2,4,6 & Dun Laoghaire).

Great to have Hullomail back working again and, for the first time, I can stream music and watch a few videos without having to worry about data limits (I've used ~1GB this month, but my online account allowance says that I have 2,095,172MB/2,046GB remaining).

Idmobile were saying the issues they having is because of three mobile ? So are you saying you don't have these data download times with three mobile

Well, I didn't have any trouble with data yesterday, and I wasn't in wifi until around 6:30pm.
I'll keep an eye on things if iD users post when they're having issues in the future.

Their customer service is atrocious. They more or less admit that themselves on the phone and just tell you to email them directly at customer.direct@idmobile.ie

Expect any reply to take at least 2 weeks though and obly then to get that reply kick up a stink on Twitter for a speedy response.

    Defo moving to 3 now.

Ah ok. There must be a get out clause if you are not happy with the service though? Record all the instances you can't connect etc and show them.

My data returned to normal yesterday morning but all these disruptions are getting a bit too frequent now.

The last weekend data outage was because idmobile own servers and not three network I found out.so watch this space as they say

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,799 ✭✭✭KELTICKNIGHTT

I had to go to idmobile store to swap out my sim as it seems can happen if a lot of data outages idmobile sim can always restore and get edge data instead of 3g or 4g . I had to do that today to sort out my data problem as it didn't work right since last weekend

I haven't had any issues like the ones stated here. I moved to iD in December. Sometimes data can be a bit patchy but nothing too major. I live/work in Dublin though. My data on iD is better than what I got on Vodafone and I don't live/work far from VF HQ!
Only issue I've had with iD is that I dont' receive all my SMS and raised this with them months ago with no follow up from them.

I was with Vodafone 17 years most
.only twice had network issues. I left them as there plans were high compared to what they offered . Before I moved to idmobile .I was comparing idmobile with three mobile .I think I should have either went with three mobile or meteor
Hopefully idmobile will get it together soon as there's too many people have issues with data etc .

I'm in cork city and where idmobile should be strong strong .it's weak
A idmobile Customer care person said he was also having data issues and this person works for idmobile . Seems some of data issues is idmobile own and not three network .may even this what happens with new provider but they coming off three network
Also seems three mobile is turning off some of the transmitters around country this adds to it. I see how it goes over next month but if no improvement then I have no choice but move

Speed was bad the whole day and now ID has an offer where prepaid customers get 30 GB of data if they top up 15€ (and they get to keep the 15€) .

They even advertise that it's 90 hours of mobile Netflix streaming or 720 hours of Spotify.

The network can't cope at the moment anyhow and now that offer.

I think it's time for anyone who expects semi-decent data speeds to move to another network.

Back in the days I was with Tesco Mobile when they had a similar offer on an already saturated network, and it became unusable for months.

For a heavy user (in quantity), Three's 20 euros all you can eat offer will offer better (if not stellar) performance, and light users'd better go with a network which offers smaller allowances but much faster speeds for similar prices (Meteor or Vodafone).

Absolutely leaving now. Went to UK. Contacted them on Twitter so they could activate the network for me like I have had to do before. Except this time I got a huge message from them telling me vague instructions of how to do it myself.

It began with go to the main menu then the id sim card symbol. I replied straight away with main menu where exactly. Eventually got a reply saying the main menu where your apps are. I replied that i did not have this. They just assumed that i had an android device. Didn't bother to ask any different. They came back with we will look into it. Sorted it myself in the end.

If they had been able to do it automatically before, why did I have to do anything at all. They really have no idea what they are doing. And the site STILL says 20,000MB not 20,480MB.

Also notice that roaming call prices are ok but this is due to them taking minutes, texts and data usage out my plan as well as charging me.

I have never ever dealt with such a useless, incompetent company and will be making it very clear to them when i ring up to leave on my return.

Still waiting for a reply from the email i sent 2 weeks ago because i was told, as per usual, by the person on the phone that they weren't sufficiently trained ao just send an email.

    Utterly pathetic.
