Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    This is the Iceland team:
    GK Ögmundur Kristinsson
Df :Birkir Mar Sævarsson, Sverrir Ingi Ingason, Ragnar Sigurdsson and Lily Bergen Magnusson
Midfield: Rurik Gislason, Olafur Ingi Skulason, Aron Einar Gunnarsson and Aaron Sigurðarson
Attack: Kjartan Henry Finnbogason and Jon Dadi Böðvarsson

Do Icelanders say 'Go on son!' during a game much?

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Fully get Doyle starting, he has travelled over & back from America for lots of games and not got a minute. Deserves a start, as we have no other strikers apart from Long available.

Doyle had to start really but surely it would have been a good idea to get Rooney and/or Maguire into the squad for this game.
We have to get new blood upfront asap and tonight was as good a time as any .

I agree 100%, i'd don't understand how Rooney was dropped from main squad and most of all have no idea why Sean Maguire wasn't brought into it. Would much rather see Maguire especially get at least a run off the bench in a game like this.

Strange that Hayes gets a start but not Rooney, is Rooney in the squad? He used to be

Surprised no one else was called up for this friendly seeing as we have another two friendlies before the Austria game in June so would have given MON three games in less than three months to have a look at other options up front.

Also surprised Cunningham wasn't called up either. Brady has done very well anytime he's played there but is much better further up the pitch and with Ward proven to be a solid left full over the last 12 months would have been a good time to get someone like Cunningham back into the squad to add more depth to the left full position.

Was it premium level? As you can see the match fine from behind the glass window and enjoy your drink.

Sadly my budget doesn't stretch to the soft seats in the premium level!

U19s 1-0 up away to Belgium at halftime. With Italy and Sweden currently drawing the lads are currently qualifying

Sweden gone 1 up now, is it only 1 to qualify?

Not ideal, but rewards him for coming over and back from USA for every squad. Much rather as was said earlier in thread, Maguire or even Adam Rooney

Irish u19s won 1-0, but Sweden go through as they beat Italy by same score.

Still to beat Belgium and Italy is very good

Brady is wasted at left back.
We want him further up the pitch on the ball.

Ireland playing like the away team.

Totally agree... he's our best player out there tonight....and plenty of pace..

i see our long ball is back.... very poor... i refuse to believe this is the only way this group of players can play..they are good enough to knock the ball about..

Iceland have some good pace and are passing the ball better...

Cunningham from Preston should really be played at lb in these kind of games.

getting paid too much not to throw your head at the ball..it should be a subbing offence...

our only tactic tonight seems to be the low percentage cross to Kevin Doyle... let's hope it works out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,105 ✭✭✭mada999

nice move there by Christie but then he had no left foot....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,306 ✭✭✭sonic85

What's the point in crossing a ball into an empty box? Or a box with one player who is outnumbered? The lads on commentary nearly wetting themselves over the ball in from Hayes but it was totally pointless. A cross just for the sake of it. Just hold the fcuking thing up and try bring somebody else into play

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

Get Horgan & O'Dowda on to add pace & some life.

crazy stuff... most time they are not even looking if anyone is in the box at all... "just whip it in" at all costs....

Great night for these lads, none of whom I've ever heard of. Jaysus this game is as enthralling as Exeter v Scunthorpe.

He was alright. Nothing special but he was obviously told to play deep.
