Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The only thing is, Walters will by instinct push back into MF a good bit so probably need McClean for our counter attacks

George Hamilton in dreamland in Vienna

How long before we hear him say "goodnight vienna"?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,050 ✭✭✭✭The Talking Bread

Hendrick, Arter and Wes and Brady. Very exciting players. Need Brady to be disciplined

Hopefully no early (or indeed late) silliness from Hendrick also.

Do you ever listen to his show at the weekend. He is a great host. It's very good radio if you like that music. Good hangover chill music!

Alaba is a great player and will have to be watched carefully.
He could do a lot of damage to us.

Very good attacking team, only change I would make is Keogh for Duffy but other than that an exciting team!

Really.According to what I have read in places I thought Martin O'Neill hated the idea of attacking.

Yeah, Keogh is in decent form. Had an outsanding and acclaimed performance recently for Derby against Wednesday.
He is a very good passer also which we could do with if we are sitting deep

    Awful singer though..........

When exactly did Keogh get ditched? He's awkward as hell but I thought he was decent. Duffy doesn't convince me.

Really.According to what I have read in places I thought Martin O'Neill hated the idea of attacking.

He has very often picked conservative teams when playing difficult away games. It is idiotic to deny that.

I'm not denying it. Thats what an awful lot of managers would do in that situation.

It's just according to some he seemed to opposed to the idea of picking any sort of attack minded players.

When was the last time a LOI player played any part in a competitive game?

Must be during Hand's time as manager.

Too much of a liability that McClean lad imo. Gets sent off 1 in every 300 odd appearances.

Outstanding stuff, fully deserved the win,Meyler did a great job when he came on.

Austria prancing around the place, some of them sum up what is wrong with modern day footballers, falling around the place

Karma for Janko at the end there,he spent more time on the ground then he did standing

Excellent. The MON doubters on here must be getting thin on the ground at this stage. Strong position in the Group now. Big test v Wales next.

Serbia win i think. Wales and austria fighting an uphill battle then

Off to the pub to watch it.

Only problem is, had hernia op 2 days ago so can't laugh, cough or sneeze...I think I'll raise a finger and eyebrow if we score...

Back from pub, in pain. Reckon I've either torn the mesh under the skin, or the stitches under the bandage.

Still, for that result, well worth it...I'd do it again!

Like McClean, you fought through the pain barrier for the nation

Brady will be missed the next day

Bale just scored for Wales. 1-0 up after half an hour. Keeper was poor.

Excellent result. Play our best, most skilful, players and get a win away from home against tough opposition. Who'd have guessed.

Everybody put in a proper shift tonight, can't fault any of them. Also, the performance improved a fair bit after the break - which MON deserves extra praise for.

One thing that concerns me a bit is the defensive shape when playing in that diamond - wide players being too happy to drop into the back line (to make it a back 5 or 6) and then only three midfielders trying to cover the width of the pitch. I think we see that happening a bit too often with this formation. But that can be fixed for the next day. For now, this result puts us in great shape.

Bale hits post & Serbia go down the other end and equalise. 86 mins gone

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,611 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

Not sure that goal for Serbia is good for us or not. I think we can beat Wales. Serbia might be a tougher nut to crack.
