Brideshead Revisited was remade in 2008.

I’m surprised Tubridy didn’t know that, being such a fan of the work.

It's so cringe when he talks about going into his local Supervalu and they're all there waiting on him happily but they're doing it out of love for Supervalu and "not as part of the gig economy" (???)

I can imagine him arriving like some sort of royal / JFK / Pope / mega-celebrity type character soaking up all the adulation and graciously accepting all of their love and admiration.

And answering questions about his coat, whilst paying for coffee for the great unwashed ;)

I actually find Pat even more irritating, cringy and grating on the nerves - He's the only presenter I've ever heard doing a scripted interview and trying to appear super-intellectual by contradicting the Interviewee using points or facts from the information sheet supplied to him by said Interviewee !!!!

Sometimes I lie in bed at night wondering if the odious, insufferable git is busy working away in the dark behind my house erecting security gates to try and take over my garden.

You are right about 2008 but that was the movie version. He did mention it.

What he was talking about is the proposed BBC remake to mark the 75th anniversary of the publication of Evelyn Waugh's novel.

"People ask me where I get all my stuff, like this novelty mug which was a gift and this gorgeous moss green scarf, which was also a gift"

does he have any possessions that he purchased himself, out of his own scandalous salary!? :D

I wouldn't say he can remember who sent him in half the shít he owns.

Do you remember (not long back) when he mentioned that he called into a pharmacy to buy sanitiser and the girl behind the counter took off her masked and asked him for an unmasked selfie and he refused. Letting us know how much of a celebrity he is, and ensuring girl would likely have got due reprimand from pharmacist later, as she would have likely have excitedly told them about the famous customer calling by, then to hear what happened as told by Ryan on the radio, and verifiable by CCTV recording.

Of course if it ever happened at all.

Why does he try to be impossibly British all the time? When he talks about being in school in the 80s, I picture him as a 1920's small lanky child with brown shoes, high socks, shorts etc and a little fancy cap, running down a road with a stick and a hoop rolling in front of him. So, completely disconnected from Ireland back then.

    Still trying for the Beeb?

EDIT: Also, the reason the Supervalu staff are nice, is because its their job, they are paid to be nice to everyone, d'uh.

Blackrock boy. In my faaaader's day there, it was all rugby and Latin.
