I was indeed thinking of less than 100 but I've been googling since I posted this thread and it seems I just won't get what I'm trying to acquire with the budget in mind.

I wanted to upgrade my computer speakers. I currently have a Logitech x-530. I was thinking of taking the front output from my PC and instead of plugging the x530 to the front output, I would instead have a soundbar. So in this situation, I really don't thinking I would need a separate subwoofer unit so just a soundbar with a built-in subwoofer.

Could you recommend a good 2.1 soundbar with built-in subwoofer? Maybe a few recommendations; one cheapest, and second for best value. Doesn't have to be less than 100. I will just save up for it. But would like the suggestions now so I would know how much I will have to save for. Thanks a lot.

    Hi Leakinglava.

There really is not too many soundbars around the 100 Euro mark with built in subs unfortunately.

Have a little look over the following few options:

There is the Yamaha YAS105 priced at 357.99 Euro (inc Delviery)
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/soundbars-sound-base/yamaha/yas105/yama-yas105-blk

The Pioneer SBXB30 coming in at 289.00 Euro (inc Delviery)
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201479-sbxb30.aspx

Yamaha YSP1400 (5 star reviewed what HiFi) priced at 349.99 Euro (inc Delivery)
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-12517-ysp1400.aspx

If you changed to a soundbase you could go for the Orbitsound SB60LX priced at 249.99 Euro (inc Delivery)
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201320-orbitsound-sb60lx.aspx

You could also look at the award winning Cambridge TV2 priced at 269.99 Euro (Inc Delivery)
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200929-tv2.aspx

Soundbars don't really come as 2.1 or 5.1. While some do come with subs the bar itself is made up from different amounts of speakers depending on were it falls within the price range.

For something very very good and that sounds amazing there would be the Q Acoustics M4 priced at 479.00 Euro (Inc Delivery)
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200641-m-4.aspx

Let me know what you think.

Hmm. Doesn't seem like I have much options. Please let me know what you think I could do regarding my setup.

As said, I will be using a 5.1 system with the soundbar. The source will be a PC through 3 3.5mm slots on the soundcard. Front, center/sub, rear. I am going to use the front out for the soundcard. Do you think that there will be low frequency signals(subwoofer range) going out of this output? If there is, then I probably wouldn't mind having a second sub. So I can consider getting a soundbar with a subwoofer(not built in).

    Thanks for all your help

    Hi LeakingLava.

I have to say that I'm not too sure about PC soundcards at all. Not something I've had too much dealings with but I'll try my best.

If using 3.5mm jacks you could only connect one to a soundbar as some will only have one 3.5mm input, others none at all as they tend to operate on phono or optical. (you could go 3.5mm to 2 phono and connect this way also) You could connect the Front to the bar but then you would have no speech or vocals from the soundbar as this would be carried in 5.1 by the center channel. All home AV or Hifi will run on phono connections or optical for audio. Higher spec soundbars can also have the capability to run via HDMI in and out directly.

I don't think that the front output would carry the subwoofer frequencies if the center one is also marked as subwoofer?

I'm really not sure if there is anything that I could sell you that would allow you to run 5.1 using the outputs on your soundcard. Even for a A/V Receiver to run 5.1 there would be no way to connect those 3 cables at once to create 5.1. Perhaps you could change the sound card to one with an optical output and it would make your options much more easier.

There may be some sort of computer designed speaker packs that run on these type of connections but it would not be something that would could get our hands on unfortunately.

    Hopefully this is of help.

    Any questions let me know.

Well actually, I completely removed the center speaker from my setup because here was some static noise from it. But as I am using it now, I have all the vocals, etc. I just realised that that's actually a bit weird. Hmm. I'll have a think of what I should do. Maybe I could do some other setup. But definitely want an upgrade of at least my front speakers. I'll also try plugging stuff off and seeing if the front out is carrying any sub frequency at all. Thank you.

Regarding soundcard, thr motherboard soundcard is all I have. But it actually has an optical ouput. But it is on the video side of the slots physically, so I still have to find out how it works. If it can work simultaneously with 5.1, problem solved. I'll research more when I get home. Thanks a lot yet again :)
