Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yano the way all dogs have to be under controll in public places and should be on lead especially if they don't have a good re-call! What happens if, Ur walking ur dog on lead and a loose dog comes running over and stands dominatly(?) over ur dog that's on lead and the owner of the other dog calls his dog but he dosent come back so runs over to get his dog and just as his getting him by the collar the loose dog makes a snappy growl and Ur on lead dog goes to fight back? ?

You dominate the other owner by showing him you're the alpha male of the pack by refusing to feed him before you've eaten.

Seriously though; you still need to constrain your dog and you should not let the other dog get to that point in the first place (carry a stick or similar if need be to keep them seperated).

Folks, I think it's reasonably clear that the OP is asking how to deal with snarky off-lead dogs when your own dog is on-lead, so can we please address that?
Madaboutdogs, if you wouldn't mind avoiding the txtspk when posting please, as it does make for more difficult reading.
    Thanks,

A ball launcher is a handy tool for putting between dogs.. Not to be used as a weapon though.

We always take a stick with us. Not as a weapon, but it is visually distracting to hold in front of another dog, and most dogs will chase it if you throw it :o

This is about dogs who can't tolerate other dogs approaching them, but has a lot of good stuff on off-lead dogs.

http://terriermandotcom.blogspot.ie/2011/08/knowing-what-not-to-do-in-dog-fight.html Quick reminder not to stick your hands in.

As someone who has to walk a couple of frail oldies and a terrified-of-everything small dog, I wish people would just have their dogs under control or on a lead. Off-lead and walking by without frightening mine, no problem. Don't care. Happy to see anyone who does this. I am also happy to see someone with a barking dog who they have securely on a lead, away from me.

Just don't let your dog charge and bark and then tell me it would be fine if I'd just let mine off-lead! Must start bringing a stick.
