Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Team news: No Sanchez.

Stats: Arsenal have never beaten Chelsea under José Mourinho. Chelsea have only won the Community Shield 4 out of 11 times. Arsenal slaughtered Manchester City last season in this game. Arsenal have won this 12 out of 21 times, lost it 7 times and shared it twice.

In what is little more than the last pre-season friendly, we can only hope that the local and managerial rivalry will add some spice to this encounter. It is ten years since the sides met in this competition and Chelsea won 2-1. Fàbregas scored for Arsenal that day.

There is no extra time, so straight to penalties if it's tied after 90.

Prediction: 1-1 Chelsea to win on penalties.

Cech to deny Chelsea on penalties

Glorified friendly or no, I can't see either team seeing it like one.

Chelsea 2-1 unfortunately. Be interesting to see however teams line up. Is Costa out?

Think it's a little more than the last pre season friendly. I always see it as the first proper game of the season, think both teams will see it that way as well. Neither will want to lose.

Happy as an Arsenal fan with no Costa or Oscar.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,603 ✭✭✭grumpymunster

Well that answers the question on Costas hamstring but why no Oscar?

Walcott up front, lovely stuff can't wait for this one now

Is that a lack of confidence in Giroud or purely tactical?

Giroud isn't fully fit yet IMO.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,603 ✭✭✭grumpymunster

Ah I see, bit of pace about Arsenal though should be interesting

Purely tactical. We've tried Giroud upfront against Chelsea and it hasn't worked out. Good to see Wenger changing something.

Really looking forward to seeing this now.

Once you go Loic you never go back.... (not at least until Costa is ready to rumble)
    Come on you Blues

Chelsea do look a bit light when Costa isn't fit.

Great atmosphere considering it's only a friendly essentially. More like an FA Cup Final feel to it for whatever reason.

Beautiful finish. Loved that ball in from Walcott and that little shimmy to get it on to his left. Superb.

What's Remy at? Can you get booked for being offside too much?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,391 ✭✭✭PhiloCypher

Remy clearly suffers from a congenital brain defect that prevents him from understanding the offside rule.

Yeah, I just feel Ox is a more complete player, and it's not as if the goal was a gimmie
