Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A mismatch of comedy scene, stitched together as a movie. More miss than ht, but some of the hit are very good

    From the guys behind Airplane!

My #1 was The Godfather, Part II.

Well I've been pretty much watching a movie a day for a few years now. It's a nice groove I've gotten into of sitting down to a film almost every night.

Thank Christ for Netflix, Mubi and the local library. :P

    Young Frankenstein.

I can see my old mum (RIP) getting a grim laugh from that.

And on her birthday the number one flick was

Hold Your Man starring Jean Harlow and Clark Gable.

    I win.

Looks like the Steve Carrell or Will Ferrell type film of the '80s.. In other words not my cup of tea.

It's one of the greatest comedy films of all time.

    Interesting, thanks!
I'll probably give it a viewing, seems to have a solid enough cast and decent ratings.

I've not seen it in years, but remember as a young fella thinking the animation was awesome. I think the technique used is called rotoscoping (?) where live footage is literally painted over. This version is also notable for having C3PO (Anthony Daniels) play Legolas!

My memories of the early 80s include this movie being on every Christmas, and my dad explaining what the China Syndrome was.
Number 1 on my birthday was Shampoo. Meh...

When one surpasses 35 one ceases to be a chung wan/fella!

    :P

You take that back, how dare you include the comic genius that was The Naked Gun in the same bracket as Will "I SHOUT REALLY LOUD SO PEOPLE THINK IM WAY FUNNIER THAN I AM" Ferrell and Steve "I look like a stoned raccoon and I too like to shout" Carrell.

Seriously though, The 3 Naked Gun movies are just brilliant and not even remotely like the hogwash the likes of Ferrell et al are involved in.

Might give them a shot so!
