Hey, just wondering what is the best route to take to get from Tallaght to Damastown?

I have to be in damastown at 8:30, so I guess I need to leave at around 7 in the morning, I want to avoid toll on M50 but I also don't want to go via city center.

    Is there any better way?

    Thank You.

Only route would really be Lucan Village i would have thought.

it may cost you more in petrol than just swallowing the toll tbh.

You might want to do the sums..

Google Maps Directions has a checkbox for no tolls and an arrive at date/time function in one of the settings options.

    Avoiding tolls
    via M50 26 - 40 min
    Leave around 7:50 AM · 23.0 km

    Tallaght
    Dublin
Take Bancroft Park and Main Rd to Tallaght Rd/N81
    3 min (1.3 km)
Take M50, N4 and R149 to your destination in Fingal
    24 min (21.5 km)
    Drive to your destination
    54 s (190 m)
    Damastown

This link hopefully will work: https://www.google.ie/maps/dir/Tallaght,+Dublin/Damastown,+Fingal/@53.3510975,-6.4842503,12z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m19!4m18!1m5!1m1!1s0x48670b496ce91427:0x80312cd48be9a700!2m2!1d-6.3557063!2d53.288804!1m5!1m1!1s0x48676d6ad282fef7:0x5cde150dea9a0191!2m2!1d-6.4279186!2d53.4135057!2m4!2b1!6e1!7e2!8j1438763400!3e0

Lucan village is an absolute bottle neck at peak hours so beware.

From m50 exit onto n4 (unless you live in a part of tallaght that's easier access to lucan than using m50 - citywest kind of area) down into lucan village through all the roundabouts, past traffic lights, schools, lollipop ladies, heavy traffic, out towards back windy country roads towards clonee/damastown area. It'll be a nightmare once schools start, pay the toll I guarantee you it will be worth it. Reckon you are 20 minutes at least slower trying to avoid tolls and you will use more petrol in stop start traffic (more stop)

A different way is, M50, come off at n4 and head towards the City Centre, keep left and take the little slip for Chapelizod and go up Knockmaroon Hill, into Castleknock then out onto the n3 and take the exit for Damastown.

    Car.

After reading all suggestions, I might just register for toll and go to work that way.

That's about 40 euro a month for tolls but makes journey quick.

If you time the traffic right, you might miss the rush on the way, and if thats possible on the return, there might be a saving, if you dont travel at peak times or miss it when the traffic is busy in certain places.

If you were leaving from somewhere else or a further journey Id say definitely use the motorway but tallaght is a straight run across to Lucan.

Ended up going through lucan then backroad to Blanch.
40 mins there and 40 mins back at 5 PM.
