    no one will force you but you can register online in minutes and the cost is €20.

    You only have to register a business if you intend to trade under a different name then your own. Otherwise there is no need to register.

    If you do need to trade under a different name then you should register otherwise you will start to encounter issues with banks not lodging your cehques etc.

    As mentioned by Fionn, it only costs €20 so if you need to register then I woudl go ahead and do it.
