Talking Pictures TV - Sky 343 and FTA (freesat coming)

Anyone else dip into this channel? It features the Renown catalogue of British films from the 40s-60s made by the likes of Butchers (70 minute support features) with American stuff mainly from Crown International. Crown specialised in material that made AIP look like MGM. Largely terrible low grade stuff though one or two titles have some value in them - if only on a "its so bad its nearly good" level. The early evening features American genre TV titles like Burkes Law and Honey West.

On Sunday August 16th 2015 they have their first themed day of film - as Talking Pictures goes where no man has gone before.

It was available on Freesat for a few weeks back in June but then it disappeared.

Oh I'd love to have access to that channel, looks like fun! Sadly only got Saorview and freeview.

Hoping you are all well. Some great news; we are delighted to announce that Talking Pictures TV is coming to Freeview! We hope to launch on Freeview around September 15th, again we haven’t been told our channel number yet but I think it will be in the 70’s. We will be launching as an SD channel on Freeview but through the HD service.

The SD-but-on-HD setup is interesting, its the cheapest way of getting a channel up on Freeview but I don't think anyone else has ever done it. The HD compression is much more efficient.

Following its successful launch on SKY epg 343 Talking Pictures TV is launching on Freeview channel 81, on Tuesday 22nd September 2015 at 1pm . We will be available to 70% of the UK population in most major cities and towns.
