I'm on my 4th electricity meter box this year ... 2 supplied by ESB and 2 purchased myself, with a new one now ordered from ESB. The catches are faulty, clasp is not long enough so that when door is locked, it still opens. Some supplier is making a fortune on these doors - other than welding a flange onto the clasp to lengthen it, does anyone know what I can do to get a good fitting door?

The latch should turn down into the slot not up. If the door is exposed to wind it can rattle and the latch can drop down.
I worked in the ESB back along and if the meter box was locking upwards the builder had to dig it out and turn it upside down before we'd fit the meter. Fit a timber or metal strip outside the slot might help. Latch could be difficult to modify
