    Hi everyone,

I'm moving to Clontarf in a few weeks and I'd like to enrol my kids in a few classes. My 9 year old son is sports mad and will try anything (soccer, swimming & water sports are favourites) and my 3 year old daughter loves ballet, singing and well, anything really :)

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Check out the CRC swimming pool, there may be classes there. Clontarf has a rugby and cricket club that may have juniors. I know there's a GAA club near the DART station too that has kids GAA, boys and girls.
Sorry, that's just to start, I'm from the northside but not Clontarf, so I only know vaguely. However I'm certain there are plenty of activities around there - check out Raheny, Howth, Fairview etc too, as they all within a stone's throw. Westwood in Fairview probably has a lot of classes for many sports etc.

    Welcome to the neighborhood :)

Swimming lessons are available down in the Westwood. Our two (6&9) go and love them. I believe the CRC also have kids lessons. There's also the Bull Wall if he's old enough for some ocean swimming and as you mentioned water sports, Kite Surfing is very big in the area. Gear for that, and other watersports (kayaks, paddle boards etc) can be rented from www.puremagic.ie who I believe offer lessons too.

There's loads of sports clubs around:

    Tennis - http://www.clontarfltc.com/
    Rugby - http://www.clontarfrugby.com/
    Soccer - http://www.clontarffc.ie/
    GAA - http://www.clontarfgaa.com/

I know from my daughter's friends that Ballet and Horse-riding etc. are all available too but don't know much about them myself. A very useful resource for the area is: http://www.clontarf.ie/

Thanks a million, Sleepy. I really appreciate the advice & will take time to look at those websites. Are you familiar with the local schools? My son is starting Belgrove Senior Boys in a few weeks.

Ours are still in National School, Greenlanes to be specific which we chose as I wanted to avoid Catholic schooling at all costs and the local ET was over-subscribed and an hour's walk away.

Even though I'd generally prefer mixed education (particularly for boys), everything I've heard about Belgrove has been positive so I'd be fairly happy getting him in there :) A lot of our kids' friends attend the national schools.
