    Hi,
I have this lg bluray cinema kit and I am thinking about a projector.

    http://m.lg.com/uk/home-cinema-systems/lg-HX806PG-home-cinema-system

Obviously I'd love to just buy a pj, avr and speakers but the budget will not allow for that.
So, if I pick up a PJ and avr, could I use the speakers from the lg system above until I can afford to pick up better speakers?? The sub is passive according to the specs.

PJs I'm looking at are the optoma 141x, hd26 and w1070. Costwise I'm really leaning towards the 141x.
Avr's I'm considering are the vsx329 and the rxv377. These seem to be the cheapest you have so again its the price that is drawing me as I don't really know what I need them to do.

Any advice on any of the above and any quotes or deal's would be much appreciated.

On a side note, I'm a member of the VIP club and every time I get an email about "massive clearance deals" the Belfast store is not in the list of stores from the drop down menu. Just wondering why because I've seen some great deals but could not avail of them.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi MrTules, many thanks for your enquiry.

i don't know the system personally, but from what I have researched, the speakers should certainly be usable, but I can't find enough detail about the subwoofer to be sure. Is it the same connection as the speakers or is it a phono connection?

As far as the projectors are concerned, the optoma projectors would both have a much higher contrast ratio than the BenQ 1070 would, so it may depend on your situation/brightness of room etc, but if youre limited on budget the 141 would be a good one to go for. Just to check, which sources are you looking to put through the PJ, as the optomas only have HDMi whereas the Benq has component,s-video and a pc input also

On the amplifiers, again both are great little amps in their own right, but again may depend on your sources - The 329 while cheaper, has 1080p upscaling built in, is higher powered, but lacks a little in analog inputs (component/composite) - The 377 personally is a better amp, although slightly lower powered, and has smart phone control and more analog inputs

on the clearance deals, we are a franchise as such of Richer Sounds, so we don't appear on their clearance list. The clearance is normally for any remaining open box or ex display stock. We can however match the deals in VIP if we have available stock ( unfortunately we cannot transfer clearance stock between branches), so if theres something you see on a deal, give us a call or an email and we will check if we have it

    Hope this all helps

    Thanks Brian,

The sub has the same connection as the speakers.

Re the PJ: I will only be using 1 hdmi connection. The room I hope to put it in is extremely bright :( Hoping to get some curtains for it at some stage but if you can imagine a glass house with white floor, you are pretty close to what I'm looking at.

Re the amp: Again I will only be looking to connect using hdmi. Smart phone control sounds interesting and potentially very useful. I had wondered what the best way to control all of the devices would be, seeing as they will all be housed in a closet (hub) in a different room altogether. Are ir extenders the way to go here or what is the usual set up people use? Do you guys stock anything like this?

I would be very interested in any open box or ex display 141x or either of the two avr's mentioned above. I will have a look through the VIP deals again and see if anything jumps out at me.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi mrtules,

By all accounts then yes I'd say you're right to go for the 141. The HD26 does have a slightly higher brightness and contrast ratio etc, and would be that bit better, but on budget the 141 seems to be right for you. You would ideally need to get curtains etc to darken the room, no matter how bright the projector is, the darker the room the better the picture.

As far as the amp is concerned, there aren't really many companies doing IR repeaters now, as wifi/smart phone and tablet control is so widely available, so if you're putting the gear into a cabinet etc, I'd go for the 377

The only problem now would be that the sub wouldn't be suitable for the 377, as this amp (and most seperate av receivers) would use phono level for subwoofers rather than speaker level, so you would need to at least get another sub for it all to work at its best.

If you wanted to use the speakers for a while, and just wanted a sub for now, you could use the Yamaha YSTFS050 - http://www.richersounds.ie/p-10571-ystfsw050.aspx at £73.95/€104.95 - a nice little sub for not a huge amount of money.

Any other queries just let me know

    Cheers
