Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

They generally always do it at home against those around them which is what will keep them up again this year.

Last year they won 4 and drew 4 of their home games against bottom half teams losing only once for an average of almost 1.8 points per game. This year they've won 2 and drew 2 of their home games against bottom half teams, again losing only once with Bournemouth, Sunderland, Swansea and Palace still to visit.

They'll be as safe as houses.

Can't see Arsenal having a Liverpool being 2-0 up.
But you never know, it can be a strange game.

They should of had a man sent off, terrible decision from the ref

Arter is fairly silky, nice effort.

What, the Flamini one? Clear yellow, not as simple as two footed = red.

Everton all over West Brom, as a neutral I love watching Evertons games however I do feel sorry for their fans as they have to put up with a lot of inconsistency and errors at the back.

    Pardew has broken another record.

4 consecutive home losses for Palace. First time since 1998....

Wow the power of Costa there. Hiddink has done a great job on him, his confidence is back and the team are clearly playing for him.

    Great start by newcastle.

Fantastic goal! Pedro really turned up the gears there and a superb left footed finish. 2-0, brilliant start for Chelsea as they start to warm up for PSG.

McClaren should have stayed walking down the tunnel. Abysmal but typical Newcastle defending

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,292 ✭✭✭GreNoLi

Well done Costa, magpies in the bottom three.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Goal! 3-0 and it's quite stunning from Costa, who in this form is one of the elite strikers in world football, he lays it to Willian who buries it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

I said it elsewhere, Newcastle have been a bogey team for us, theyve taken more points against us than any other side in the last 5 seasons but this is a crazy result so far.

To be fair, this is his second game in ages. Taylor even playing is systematic of a club whose transfer policy is so out of whack with what the team actually needs and that is a defence.

Chelsea looking like Chelsea for the first time this season.

Not watching the game but saw this pop up on Twitter. Any truth on the Shelvey/McClaren part?

It hasn't been hugely addressed in commentary Paully but it does not surprise me if true. Based on this performance, this team does not want to play under McClaren as it speaks.

Given that aul Stevie boy is on the board at Newcastle, I can't really see things changing unless he drags himself into the boardroom to give himself a good talking to.

Dirty from Fabregas. Knew what he was doing there. Ref looking at it. No penalty.

    Of course.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

That's a magnificent goal, a goal straight outta Barcelona. Fabregas plays a perfect pass over the top to find the run of Pedro, his touch is exquisite, his finish just right. 4-0

Yeah but, he was against Steven Taylor.

If McLaren was arguing with Shelvey I'd hazard a guess it was about something to do with tracking back. On the ball he has quality but off it he lacks a brain for that side of the game, you need another midfielder in there to make up for him at times. Monk at Swansea called him out on it in public which was rare for a manager to do. Can't believe how bad Newcastle's defence was though, amount of space in the first 15 minutes was ridicuous. I don't even think Chelsea played great.

Unfortunately it's the weakest area of the squad and has been for years now. Fans have been crying out for reinforcements to the back line and we have not improved it whatsoever hence why Aarons (a young inexperienced winger) is slotted in at LB.

But of course, goals are our biggest problem as the club would have you believe.
