Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Because there's a Euro position at stake, it would go to a play-off.

and then not again after Liverpool win on Wednesday :)

Would be an interesting scenario if it's a playoff for the last available EL spot IF Liverpool win the EL.

A West Ham win would give England 8 teams in Europe, while a Liverpool win would 'vacate' that last spot and only 7 qualify.

I assume in that case the FA wouldn't play a game that the Hammers would be 1/1000 to win (!) and just 'nominate' the Hammers as the final qualifier?

Has it happened often that the premiership winners and the relegation places are already decided before the final round of matches?

Yeah, loads. It's far more likely that they are decided before the final round than not.

I know if Liverpool win the EL they go straight into the CL group stages. Does this mean England will have 4 teams straight into the groups and just 4th in the qualifiers, or will 3rd drop into the qualifiers as well? I guess the former since I haven't heard it talked about, but I'd like to know for sure.

4 straight in, 4th will still need to qualify.

It's fantastic to be able to enjoy one week of action this season. Unfortunately it's the last week of the season, but I'll take it. :pac:

So one extra team in Europe will have to qualify or am I missing something obvious?

Good start for us. Odd moment with the confusion over the goal though. Kel was clearly onside. Not sure why the linesman thought otherwise. Good call by Dean to overrule him though.

Aguero's shot he was clearly offside. Commentators said linesman didn't even flag.

Spurs are going to blow it again and finish behind Arsenal aren't they.

No he wasn't. A Swansea player was on the ground after trying to block KDB's cross and he was playing Kel on. Watch the replay again at HT.

The last month could well have undone a lot of the presumptions that this was a new Spurs under Poch. Arsenal finishing ahead of them is a big deal.

Thought newcastle were imploding there for a bit. Conceding a goal then Mitrovic getting sent off. Peno seems to have sorted it though.. Arsenal on for 2nd now.

Ah Spurs. Such a Spurs thing to do.

Jesus Spurs. A man up and constantly getting caught on the break without enough cover. Newcastle should have 5.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,928 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

    4 now for Newcastle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

4-1 now. Newcastle hit the bar in the lead up too. Spurs look like the just want to go home and cry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

    5 :)

    Caught 3 on 2 again.

That's hilarious. The narrative being all season that Arsenal having their worst ever season, and Spurs their best but Arsenal finish ahead of them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

Spurs showing the full range of how to fup up a season in the last few weeks. From losing the rage and behaving like babies kicking everything to just plain old imploding and being ****.

All that was missing was an "I would love it......" style rant from Pochettino.

If Guardiola manages and develops Iheanacho well there's a potential superstar striker in there. His turnover for the game time he has received, in a very subpar City team has been incredibly impressive.

Did Spurs start kicking everything in sight again like a bunch of kids having a tantrum? Seriously dislike Arsenal but Spurs finishing third after being in a two-way battle for the title for most of the season is hilarious.

    As of now.

Leicester are in the Champions league pot 1.
Arsenal and Spurs are also in the group stage
Man City in the play off.

5th spot Southampton/Man Utd are in the group stage of Europa Leauge
6th spot -Man Utd/Southampton have taken the League cup spot and are in the 3rd Qualifying round

If Liverpool win on Wednesday they join Leicester Arsenal and Spurs in the group stage of the Champions League, Man City will still be in the play off round.

If Man Utd win the FA Cup they will join Southampton in the Group stage of the Europa League and West Ham will take the League Cup spot of the 3rd Qualifying Round.

If Palace win the FA Cup they will join (5th Spot) in the Group stage of the Europa League and (6th spot) will be in the 3rd Qualifying round.

Man Utd can still finish top 4 with a record English win, they can also finish 5th so can swap them with Southampton if they get a point from game in hand

Amazing scenes with the Arsenal fans. They're celebrating their 2nd place finish nearly as much as Leicester did winning the title. :pac:

Agreed. Of all the players who have scored a minimum 3 PL goals, he has the best minutes per goal ratio; 74.3. We need to incorporate him more in the side next season than Pellegrini did this campaign.

According to the BBC, Man U and Bournemouth can now name totally different XIs from the other day.

How convenient for Man U, knowing that they have a cup final coming up and CL football is practically impossible. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see lots of key players rested ahead of that more important game now.
