Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    hi guys
Im watching The Grandmaster on Netflix at present and the star is Tony Leung as Ip Man, to me he looks like the same guy as the star in one of my favourite martial arts moviles, Shaolin, the wikipedia entry for him appears to be different but the name is very similiar, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, I presume its the same actor in both movies?

There are two well-known Tony Leungs in the Hong Kong movie scene.

Tony Leung Chiu-Wai ('Little Tony') is the better known in the West for his roles in Wong Kar-Wai films (including the Grandmaster, but many of his earlier films too) and the likes of Infernal Affairs, Hero and Lust, Caution.

Tony Leung Ka-fai ('Big Tony') would not be quite as well known here, but has had major roles in the likes of Johnnie To's Election.

They're both in Wong Kar-Wai's Ashes of Time :)

thanks Johnny. But these two actors, to me, both look exactly alike, is the Tony in Grandmaster the same actor as the TOny in Shaolin or are they different actors who just both happen to look very similar and have very similar names?

I have no idea, can you link to the IMDB page of the film you're talking about? Neither Tony Leung appears in the main result I'm getting.

Im not good at posting links but from Wikipedia:

The Grandmaster is a 2013 Hong Kong-Chinese martial arts drama film based on the life story of the Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man.[1][4] The film was directed and written by Wong Kar-wai and stars Tony Leung as Ip Man.

Shaolin (released in the Hong Kong as The New Shaolin Temple) is a 2011 Chinese-Hong Kong[5] martial arts film produced and directed by Benny Chan, and starring Andy Lau
