what kinds of level design can you not stand in gaming? I hate the escort type missions or ''defense'' ones where you've a health bar for an NPC or a building/vehicle and you're protecting it from a **** ton of enemies respawning in waves.

I'm with you on that especially when they are worse than useless and just stand getting hit/shot. It isn't as bad when they take part and actively defend themselves though.

Any difficult level that has an unskippable cut scene at the beginning of it that you have to keep sitting through everytime you have to restart it. And those parts of the boss battles in God of War where you have to do the button combinations to finish them off.

Forced stealth sections should all die in an inferno. Leave your crappy level design in 1999.

“I need you to go fetch X number of item Y.”

    Unimaginative, repetitious, lazy and boring.

    This.

I love Monster Hunter 3 ultimate, but there is a special place in hell for a person who said: Lets make it underwater theme! Everyone loves underwater sections!

There was never a level in a sewer that I enjoyed.

Oh god I hate water levels... there was entire zones in World of Warcraft that was like all underwater, and you could get to the edge and look down into this nothingness. It actually made me feel nausious. :o

Any level that changes the entire core gameplay for one level.

    3rd person in an FPS.
    2dish in a 3d game.
Forced stealth in pure FPS games.

Bonus points if it loads you in three paces before the cut-scene starts.

"Hey, you know the way you've spent the whole game so far getting used to the controls, levelling up, gaining equipment etc? Well here's a level that completely disregards all of that!"

Quick time events. They're incredibly unenjoyable and don't make cutscenes any more interactive.

    Kingdom.****ing.hearts

I hate when you're cruising through the game when suddenly the difficulty spikes up for the sake of it.

And another thing, multiple variations of the same boss fight. You beat them once, they run/ fly off only to return in their second more powerful form, then their third, and it goes on.

Came in to post anything under water but I was beaten to it. Arrrrrgh

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,505 ✭✭✭✭Xenji

The Chemical Plant zone in Sonic 2 has always been my most hated level of any game, water and the possibility of drowning while timing jumps, never a good mix.

This happened against Ras al Ghul in Arkham City and what made it worse was the cutscenes in between that ruined the flow of the fight.

Once in a while they're too good, and you just end up feeling like the clueless NPC, standing around while business is taken care of.
