If I remember right, you got the rocket launcher/sub machine gun and gatling gun with infinite ammo, so you basically stockpile magnum and shotgun ammo.

I must be mixing it up with another one of the games.

Nemesis had an infinite ammo item as one of the last drops from the optional Nemesis fights. That or you had a gameshark.

But do you not get unlimited ammo for them at some stage?

Yes, upon completion within a set completion time and a minimum amount of saves. Can't remember the exact requirement for that.

Leon's guns were upgradeable but Claire weren't. She did get the grenade launcher though.

Claire's Arsenal much the weaker of the two IMO
Bowgun becomes practically useless half way through the game.

Leon's upgraded shotgun and upgraded magnum are brilliant.

RE1 on the PS4 is the last RE game I played and its all I can 100% remember.

Now, theres classic moments in RE2 I can remember going through the bus to get to RPD and fighting the licker, the croc in the sewer but outside of the stellar moments, I'm totaly drawing a blank, even though I've completed it a good few times too.

I probably will cave alright, im very weak willed in that regard. :D

Running around at the end boss without any ammo, because you didn't realise how far you got!

If you held down the R button on the d pad on the menu screen of the directors cut of the first game you got double ammo whenever you picked some up, which essentially gave you infinite ammo. You never ran out of shotgun or magnum bullets then. Made dealing with hunters much easier!

  • That was class, it was suddenly like getting extra games, then unlocking the Hunk scenario. It was a while after finishing it when I read in a magazine that there was a gatling gun with infinite ammo and it had to be played again until that was unlocked. It was the game that kept on giving.

Back then, no googling anything either...
I used to pick up the magazine's in Easons and try memorize the cheats and tips!

Discussions in school too about the game. Those were the days :)

I did the same! I remember being on a school tour in Switzerland and buying a game magazine over there because it had all the fatalities for mortal kombat 3 listed. Magazine was German and otherwise useless. None of the mags in Cork had them around then!
    This makes me feel old!

So how many of ye actually played the original
    version of Resi 2?

I remember walking into Smyth's Toys in Limerick one Friday evening to see what new games were in (as was my custom) and noticed a big crowd around the PS1 demo stand. Upon investigation I saw everyone enamoured with this blue man walking around a big lobby. Such was my first exposure to the RPD building. Needless to say, everyone stuck around that evening to get a go. RE2 was always such a special game in that sense. So universally admired.

All I can hope is that enough young people out there take notice of this new attempt and that some of that old RE2 magic still exists in it. Enough at least, to get them to put down Fortnight for a minute and see what a real gaming experience is :)

Judging by the clips, demo and general feedback so far, it does seem like they are onto a winner here. At least with us oldies anyway.

Is it weird that I played Resi 2 all those years ago, but I remember absolutely nothing about the
Tyrant chasing you throughout, remember fighting him at the end in the train thing but not throughout the game :D

  • ^You are confusing the Tyrant (Mr. X)
Follows you through game and boss before Train Scenario B only
with the G Virus Monster (William Berkin)
Boss in the Train on B Scenario, Boss who mutates at various times / fights prior to Train A Scenario

Played the demo last night and it was pretty good, I think giving people a 30 min taster of it was a good idea, I was cautious enough for the first 15 mins or so exploring and got attacked quiet a bit, the zombies are a bit of a pain to put down but it adds to it, making sure you get in decent head shots on them.

Your only option is head shots and kneecap shots. Kneecap can often be the better choice.

Ya there was a part in the demo I went to a window that had been broken open by a zombie, which I killed and it gives you an option to board/barricade it up with stuff from your inventory, there was nothing available that I found anyway, in the demo to be able to do this or if it has any actual long term benefits.

I found wood for it in that photo developing room. Story wise it is probably not very important but on the Mercenaries side it could be huge.

    In the hall
outside the dark room, there are boards with yellow tape you can pick up. Another lot in the attic.

Your being like Pogba during Jose time. You have the ability but lacking the application.

Be more like the Pogba of the last few weeks. Go and enjoy yourself and don't let us down :pac:

RE1 was the first ever PlayStation game I saw. A friend of my brothers called over with his PS (I didn't even know it existed at the time, I was about 10). I was completely blown away, the live action intro, the dog trying to break through the door first door, the massive explorable mansion... I'd just jumped from Sonic the Hedgehog to this!! I don't know if we'll ever see such a single big jump in gaming technology again. Reminds me... I must play through the HD remaster again!

I was completely on edge playing the original RE the first few times I picked it up. So many memorable moments with adrenaline through the charts. The dogs breaking into the mansion hall way. Running past the hall monitors in the lab. And long stretches running through empty rooms with a creepy soundtrack winding the tension constantly. It was genuinely scary and got the adrenaline pumping. It was also immensely rewarding to cut through it and proceed to the end.

RE2 was a blast. The tension was cranked down, but it looked better, played better and had a more complex and interesting plot and overlap. I played those games a million times. The focus in RE3 shifted and I haven't bothered with the series in a very long time.

Reading this thread and watching the demo walkthroughs, etc I'm actually contemplating buying a PS4 and buying a copy of it. Could pick up the Resident Evil HD remake too. So yeah, this looks great. :)

    Same here!

Hard to imagine such a leap happening now. I got a 4K TV for Christmas (Hisense A6100/AE6200 for €232 amazon savage good deal if anyone is in the market for 4K) and I was expecting to be impressed. New GPU for the PC boi lets go!..........

    But it was just "meh".

I can hardly see a difference between it and 1080p. But that's just the way things are now I guess.

I wonder if I could get RE1 running in 4K??? I think I'd much rather enjoy that! :pac:

That's a pretty low quality 4K panel you bought though.
