Assisted and an infinite weapon should see ya through the game in about 2 hours top without needing a healing item.

Best thing to do is to save often, if you take any damage, just load the most recent save.

Yeah. I did a run of Leon B on Hardcore with the minigun to get his Hardcore trophy (got an S but no S+ due to the minigun) and barely took any damage, bar from some Lickers who jumped me before the mingun could do enough damage, and one hit from G3. Minigun was also the only time I've been able to see the G-adult's death animation, to the point where the first few times I wasn't even sure if it was actually dead or not. Every other run I just tried to avoid the f*ckers.

The runs shouldn't take too long at all, it's just the collection aspect of them (files & pouches) that might slow me down. Still though, still enjoying playing the game and sail through most of the areas now without hassle regardless of weapons. Don't see any of the remaining trophies as being too much of a hassle. Even 4th Survivor, which might take a few runs but I don't think there's anything particularly awful in it. Most areas seem easy enough to run through.

The hardest part I found in the 4th survivor run is the sewer G adults right at the start, if you can get passed them without using a flash or grenade you should be well placed for the rest of the run.

The car park is another one where a well placed flash bang will set ya up for an easy time, if not, a lot of damage can be taken there.

One part that caught me out twice was not having a sub weapon and getting grabbed by the plant zombies in the 2F hallway, blasted one of them with the shotgun and didnt hit the 2nd guy quick enough, instant death. Very frustrating game mode. :o

Apparently theres 2 glitches, in the library if you're Claire, you can glitch straight to the orphanage and then flee from tyrant into the sewers cutting out a good chunk of the game out from there glitch straight to NEST.

If you managed to get the glitch working, you'd probably clear the game in about 30/45mins, which would make Hardcore and an S+ rating pretty easy, although getting the glitch to work seems to very hit or miss and I'm not sure if they've patched it in the 1.02 update on Friday.

I saw a post somewhere about someone complaining they tried to get the glitch working in the sewers to get to the lab, spending an hour on it before giving up. It didn't sound like fun. I've seen it on youtube and it looks very hit and miss.

  • Registered Users Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Ya, I tried it once in the sewer too and it didnt work, I just gave up on it, I wasnt doing an S or S+ run so said id try it, give it a go.

I cant imagine it having to rely on it for a run would make it any easier, I've seen people waste a good 2 or 3 mins trying to get it right.

For Claire though, the library one cuts a huge portion out of the game.

Is that the stairs/out-of-bounds glitch? Yeah, wouldn't fancy trying it myself.

Is there any way to check what notes/docs you missed? Im almost sure i've found them all. My trophy collection says otherwise

Not easily that I know of. I found an online list of all the files, then had to load previous saves and check which ones I had (but they don't all show up from each playthroughs, so for example I had to load a Leon A and a Leon B scenario to see those, same with Claire). Other than that I couldn't see any other way. At least all the files have different names so they're easy enough to check.

This is the list I used:

Ya thats it, I've not tried the library one on Claire A/B but did try the sewer one with Leon B to try and get to NEST earlier, it was too much hassle gave up after getting attacked twice and down to "danger".

  • Has this released?? More free DLC :D

Edit* Actually NM, this is a surprise for beating all 3 of the DLC modes.

So I finally got around to finishing my Claire A s+ run, there was alot of restarts and hairy moments in the likes of the sewers and beginning areas of rpd.

I followed this lads run and it should be very helpful to anyone thinking of giving it a go.

Will have to give it a go later on, no way will I not be saving though, I'm nowhere near good enough for that carry on. :pac:

Finished Claire B on assisted with no heals in just under 1:30. That also included picking up as many of the files as I felt I was missing. Spent over half of it in caution due to a licker who jumped me when I was shooting at a zombie. Forgot the b*stard would be there.

Also realised I had an earlier Leon save file from my first play through from just before G3, which meant I was able to run back and get the last pouch upgrade for that trophy.

So mostly just a no box run left, as well as a few more files from Leon B. Then I'll finish off with Hunk. It's going to suck not having the minigun.

Well done, that's an achievement right there. I know its assisted, but no heals and under 1.30 is still good.

Can't take all the credit unfortunately. I just escorted the minigun from room to room. It did the rest :D

But yeah, when you run through the game a few times, it makes the whole thing so much easier knowing where to go, what you can skip (didn't pick up any guns other than grenades until I got to the lab and the grenade launcher was there) and what enemies to expect where.

I think the no item box run will be harder. It's going to take a bit of planning and backtracking (eg. to use key items in order to discard them since you can't box them, and knowing when to pick up items or leave them until later).

Ahh but having the minigun would have made you smile with every trigger pull :P:D

    What does this unlock?

    What does this unlock?

A cuddly teddy bear that you can hold hands with... Assisted is for babies after all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,737 ✭✭✭✭Penn

    What does this unlock?

Nothing in particular, just the trophy for a no heals run. Just felt like going for the platinum as a way to keep playing the game.

It's a trophy for the platinum. When I have no realistic expectation of platinuming the game I pretend it doesn't really bother me.

Honestly, a Hardcore S+ really isn't that hard to get. I followed a good guide which tells where zombies would be, how best to deal with them (dodge, stun & run, de-leg, grenade), what to carry in inventory at each point and what to pickup/leave. I died a few times in the lab but it didn't take too long to redo.

Actually, just checked there, you don't even need a Hardcore S+. An S Rank on Standard or Hardcore, and just completing Hardcore with any rank. You still get at least the infinite pistol for completing on those terms.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,409 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

That's interesting I didn't fancy an S+ Hardcore run but if I only need an S on standard and any hardcore complete it makes it a lot more feasible.

Watching a youtube video yesterday of a 4th survivor modded run where ALL enemies were tyrants. The guy was good but couldn't get out of the first two rooms for the 5 minutes I watched. It was criminally unfair.

It does mean you'd likely be stuck with just the infinite pistol though, which is a big help but ultimately still a pistol. You might be able to get the infinite SMG from there though.

But honestly, after 2-3 playthroughs, the Hardcore S+ really isn't an impossibility. I managed it and I suck :D

I've nearly done everything there is to do in this now.

I have all achievements, got S+ rank with both Leon and Claire.
All that remains for me to do is complete Tofu Survivor with Annin Tofu which will unlock all the remaining records and to get the cat ears unlock In No Way Out.

S+ runs on hardcore where not too challenging.
Got Claire done in 1 hour 58 minutes and Leon in 2 hours and 11 Minutes.

Claire I take I only got hit once outside of boss fights.

Leon I messed up with regular enemies 2-3 times but the boss fights went easier, Birkin 2 was super easy with flame thrower. I did nearly mess up with Ada in the incinerator and only got out with 1 second to spare! and the final boss fight was quite tough as I had very little ammo but I think you can win that by just staying alive till a certain amount of time passed.

Overall very much impressed with the game, very enjoyable. First run through on Hardcore with Claire was tense and had the right balance of difficulty. Leon 2nd Run Hardcore was similar. After you learn what to do and what enemies can be bypassed there is different challenges which are fun but none of them were honestly that hard.

I've a Leon A on normal that I'm racing through to get his trophy, once thats done, I'm going to go Claire A Hardcore for an S/S+.

That guide posted yesterday is pretty detailed and should help massively.

I see a hardcore Claire A S+ run in my suggested youtube videos. 54:58. Anyone who beats that gets a thanks

just started watching it and he gets purposefully bitten at the start. do you move faster in caution?

Capcom put up a really quick survey about Resi 2. If you want anymore remakes, I suggest you give them feedback through this.

Slightly I think. I guess not noticeably faster unless you're doing speedruns, then it might be fast enough to even outweigh the time it takes getting bitten.

I would have assumed taken damage would slow you down.

On danger, you certainly move slower, well, I think, my minds been blown by the above. :o

Most of the fastest speed runs though are done on PC running high FPS and exploiting the knife to take out bosses, it not as easy on console.
