While it's not on their site, Argos have a videogame specific brochure out and Super Mario Maker is in there.
The Amiibo version is €69.99 and the art book only edition is a maddening €62.99, but they are giving away an exclusive poster with that, for some reason.
No sign of a version without either artbook or Amiibo, so good luck hunting.

They have also got Animal Crossing, without the adapter, for the N3DS for €55.99 and with the adapter, for the regular 3DS models, for €62.99, it might be worth the extra just to have a Nintendo stamped doodad.
The cards are confirmed at €5.49 per pack.

I'm hopeful we'll get the usual launch day discount for big games.

[UNBOXING] Super Mario Maker collector "Amiibo + Artbook"

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdXLarpimAA

It's in French but that's not important. The artbook looks great and it's in hardback. I didn't know that. Makes me even happier knowing that now. I think it's definitely worth at least €5 for a glossy, hardback, sizeable artbook. I don't care for the 8 bit amiibo Mario or amiibo in general.

Ordered off the Nintendo UK store through Parcel Motel and thankfully just got an email saying it was dispatched!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,629 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Just got an e-mail confirmation from Gameseek that my order has been posted. Speaking from experience I don't think it'll get here by Friday. Was hoping it would ship yesterday like a couple of the other sites. It'll be here Monday I expect. F*** it, weekend is ruined and it's only Wednesday.

GAME are at it again, their computer system has lost them hundreds of customers in the last few months.
GAME customers who pre-ordered Super Mario Maker have woken this morning to find that their bank accounts have now been charged again multiple times.

Many have now been charged for seven copies of the game - costing £328.93 - when they had only ordered one.

Got a Mario Maker IOU from my wife and kids for my birthday. Looks like it'll be next week before it arrives but I'm on the train! CHOO CHOO!

    Discount from whom?
    Argos?
Do they do that sort of thing?
    Or is Smyth's?
    I'm so confused!

Argos I mean. Since they're by far the cheapest place for launch day games right now.

For anyone go digital or just want to see it, Nintendo have released the book online
    http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wiiu/amaj/booklet/SuperMarioMakerBooklet.pdf

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,560 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Yep, that confirms that I would have "read" it once and never looked at it again. For what it's worth, it does look nice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,629 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

I never had any intention of taking the artbook out of the box. In these collector Editions the game is all I ever remove. I knew the PDF file was coming. But it's a really nice, quality collectible. Easily worth the extra €4 over the digital game. And retail copies are much better than digital IMO. The yellow game case is a one off and looks cool.

You can't take in that sweet, sweet new book smell with a crappy PDF either.

Mario maker with amiibo and book is only €62 on littkewoods.

Do we think Argos are going to have this in stock on Friday?
When do they normally have items go live on their site, is it on the day or the previous night?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,255 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Anytime from 3am onwards Friday morning, best to get a new F5 button too as you will kill your old one, at least I will.

Miyamoto to answer questions about Mario myths tomorrow

Be funny if that was all the answer he was giving to that question.

Argos are bizarre. They should really have pre orders up long before games become available. The amount of potential business they lose must be significant. Even on the UK site pre orders only go up a few days before the launch. Very often you don't know if they're going to sell a game at all or not and what price it will be. And on the Irish website, games are only listed on the day of availability.

I'm surprised by Littlewoods. That's a good price. They're usually rip-off merchants. Though it could be Tuesday before you get it and that's presuming they send it out tomorrow. If they wait until release day, you're potentially looking at next Thursday for delivery. Still it's better than Smyths and Gamestop on price. I don't think Smyths are going to shift the price on either SMM option. And I think all their prices went up a few months ago because of the Sterling rate.

Yeah it's a very good price for them and at first I was certain it would only be the book, as that's more in line for them but then I copped the amiibo bit in the listing title.
It does say delivery by the 9th if pre-ordered now but I ordered it and it says next Thursday delivery.
Suits me, as my amazon delivery was next Wednesday or Thursday and was a little bit dearer.

If anything it's Peach. Always going off with Bowser in those fake kidnappings.

Bowser Jr.'s mother is either Birdo

    or Subo

Isn't Birdo a dude? Though think he does lay eggs. Then again, so does Yoshi.

It's not clear what the yolk is. But it's a sort of dinosaur. Temperature in reptile eggs determines what sex they will be. What if higher the temperature instead further evolved a Yoshi into a Bowser? Yoshi has a shell but it's not as evolved as Bowsers. They both have tails. The further incubation along with the higher temperature gives them a bigger spiny shell, horns, teeth, hair, sharper claws, makes them more aggressive and the gives them the ability to breathe fire. I know Bowser's meant be a Koopa of sorts but dinosaurs and turtles are related. It's a bit of a stretch. Just a bit of wild fiction on top of already wild fiction.

People should probably avoid seeking biological, evolutionary consistency in the creatures inhabiting the many worlds of the Super Mario Franchise.
This is a place that has sentient slabs of masonry and bullets with faces called Bill.

So Bowser isn't related to Tokka from TMNT:Secret of the OOze?

Con of an answer to the Bowser Jr. question.

My copy arrived from the game collection, had a brief flick through the art-book and it's better than I expected (far better than the Wii Mario anniversary booklet)

Now I just have to wait until this evening to play...

I hate you so very, very much. :pac: I hope that means mine will arrive tomorrow.

Nintendo plans Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon-level marketing push for Super Mario Maker

Nintendo is going all-out to support, Super Mario Maker, which launches tomorrow (September 11th).

The platform holder is planning a huge promotion for the game spanning into 2016.

“I’d say our marketing push is on the same kind of level as [Mario Kart 8],” Nintendo UK product manager Remy van Leeuwen told MCV.

“It’s really one of our big titles this year and it’s definitely in parity with Splatoon this year.

“Super Mario Maker is the next evolution in 2D Mario games. It’s not only here to shake up that formula, but also provide content that will delight the community.”

I haven't seen a Super Mario Maker ad yet. I never seen an ad for Splatoon either, I heard it was on the likes of Nickelodeon. The last Wii U ad I seen was for MK8 and that was about 16 months ago. I hope and doubt it's a limited run of ads on childrens TV channels as this game has adult and nostalgia appeal. Has anyone seen an ad yet?

I've seen a bunch of Mario Maker ads, mostly on kids channels.

I saw a good few Splatoon ads as well, and caught a Mario Maker ad on I think Dave the other night.

Apologies if I'm out of place, but can we get a seperate thread for boardsies user-made maps/challeneges? Would be much easier to navigate a seperate thread for our creations imo.

You're absolutely right. It's something I've thought about too and seen elsewhere but as I'm still waiting on the game to arrive it hasn't been to the forefront of my mind. Nintendo have made things slightly awkward, I think after putting in the initial code for a level, if you follow that user, you can see their other levels without entering repeated codes. But that's not ideal either.

I'll create one no problem, trying to think what's the best way of doing it though!

Levels and chat about the levels? (Could make it harder to find the levels amongst the chatter!)
Levels only, and keeping chat about the levels here?

Let us know what you guys want!

    Personally I think:

    Map Code:
    Description/theme of the map:
    NNID to follow:

Don't mind map feedback on that same thread

I'm oddly excited about tomorrow, though both Wooly World and Kirby haven't been played much....

Don't really buy discs these days, but was considering retail. Does anyone know if release on eshop will be at midnight tonight?

Feedback would definitely be good, but could make it tricky to find the codes in thread?
Maybe if people PM me to add them to the first post?

Not been on to buy anything at release in a while, but didn't it used to be around 11pm (midnight German time)?

It was a silly system and restriction to begin with in the first place. IGN said there was an easy work around but wouldn't say on their video in case Nintendo got on their back. I would guess it's just a matter of changing the date on the clock in the menu settings.

Yeah, the fix is just to move the clock ahead to the next day. I get the logic behind the staggered delivery of the tools but nine days was too long. They probably figured most people would use the work around anyway and just changed it.
