Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Im starting to hate LVG, made herrera a bench player and then leaves rooney on the pitch when he has done nothing.

Is there a reason Young gets such a negative response from Villa fans? Other than the fact he left the club.

On his first game back at villa he dived to get a peno and had a big celebration after it

Blind gets MOTM from Sky. That'll ruffle some feathers....

Like Rooney has his off-days the odd time, but this is a whole new level of dire.

It's like the monsters from Space Jam visited or something!

I said LVG was nuts to play Blind at CB but he's been really effective playing there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,902 ✭✭✭MagicIRL

Blind, ironically, sees the game really well. Quality player.

The major positive is that this is exactly the sort of match United would have thrown away last season - now if only a team can play themselves into form!

Speed isn't everything. Give me a player who has decent pace with a ball vs a track star without it

LVG makes his living at being a football manager shocker!

  • 6 points from first two games il take it

A dogged villa but they created nothing

    United deserve the win

Good result again. Rooney was poor.

That was a tough 90 minutes to watch. Enjoyed Mike Smalling and Darmian doing the business in defense, but our attack was dismal.

Mata man of the match yea?

He had no touch in the penalty box in the whole match!

Had a decent second half...not so sure about his first half performance at all!!

Smalling or Shaw were my picks. Mata was OK.

Rooney was awful and it just didn't happen for Memphis.

Uniteds defense looking a lot better than most thought. Cant help but feel its down to the great midfield pairing of Carrick and Schneiderlin. Thats the best midfield two for the big games in the league this year.

Poor game, some utterly abysmal performances but a win.

I think we are one top quality centre half from having a savage defense.

    Darmian, love him.

    Shaw, love him.

    Smalling, getting to love him.

An Other to fill the gap permanently and we will be extremely difficult to score against, especially with Morgan/Basti/Carrick in front of them.

A lot of negatives but I'm gonna focus on the positives this evening.

    :)

Two wins from two and no major injury worries. Mustn't grumble.

Think I saw Rooney in the 88th minute. I might be mistaken maybe someone can clear that up for me.

Bit of a bore game. Thought Rooney and Memphis looked poor. That aside, United's defence looks very solid. Smalling a player transformed.

Villa lacked any real cutting edge though so it's hard to know what they'll be like against a City or a Swansea who push them higher up.

People getting way over the top about shweinsteger when he came on. Dropped in and played a few decent balls across the pitch. You'd think he came on and got a hat trick or United were brilliant for the last half hour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,518 ✭✭✭matrim

Dull game. Neither side really got any attacking flow going and it was all based on pressing in the centre with poor attacking play when it did get that forward.

United got the bit of luck with the deflection and Villa should have had a penalty but can't really fault them the win. The had the better chances.

From a Villa perspective, Amavi looked good again and Gana showed some good touches but also some lapses in concentration. Vertout was ok first have but tired quickly in the second. Awey was fairly poor and I thought he should have been taken off instead of Sinclair

Yeah because that's how you define a good game for a central midfielder - it needs a hat-trick.
