I heard that there's a back route into courses in UL if you were within 20 points of the course, can anyone confirm this ? I got 420 but the course for applied languages was 440 last year

No.

However UL is part of the HEAR program, which allows for reduced points for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. You would already have had to have applied through the HEAR program

UL also has a supplementary maths exam, but this doesn't have anything to do with points.

What you can do is select a similar course and if after first semester your QCA is above a certain amount (2.60) I think you can internally transfer to a course that you are within 20 points as long as you meet any other requirements.
