Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Atlético comfortable so far.

    Atlético so far,comfortable right now.

They are playing well allright ,making it very difficult for Barcelona .
Its debatable whether they can keep this high pressing up for 90 minutes though.

I can see Barcelona getting caught trying to play it out from the back .

When cloning is introduced to football, every team should have a Messi.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,790 ✭✭✭Bret Hart

Superb goal.Barça have been all over Atletico for the last few minutes.

    Some finish by Suarez.

And a Neymar and Suarez too .

I think Simeone knows his boys are up against it now.
    Cracking game though

This is a fantastic game, the quality of play from both teams is just superb. Great pass by Alves and great strength and finish by Suarez as well.

I wish Messi had a personalised shirt with all his individual awards emblazoned on it, it would look like a war criminal's military garb.

    Was it intentional though ?
Probably I guess ,harsh perhaps but its a red card nowadays.

Crazy tackle from Luiz. Gives AM a bigger mountain to climb now.

    All 3 goals were excellent.

Probably not intentional, but that's irrelevant. It was a stonewall straight red anyhow.

I hate it when any big game is ruined by a red card, but that was deserving of one, just pure thuggery from Felipe,he could really have fecked Messi's knee up.

I've been disappointed with Atletico's counterattacking in the first half.Instead of trying to get it going with Carrasco and Griezmann they immediately just resorted to hoofing it.

They'll have to be much better in that regard in the second half,as that's what there resorted to now after the red card.

Big save from bravo there. Didn't know much about it though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

Stupid indiscipline. Simeone will be fuming at the 2 of them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Well that is definitely the end of that as a contest.

Red for godin now. Silly challenge again but as per usual Suarez rolls around like he has been shot

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,790 ✭✭✭Bret Hart

Poor second half by Barca.1st half was good too watch 2nd half not so much, nonetheless, big win in the end for Barca.

He is 29 now so no spring chicken.
Very frustrating player though ,no end product and a bird brain.

The team has got a lot worse since Gary took over.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,790 ✭✭✭Bret Hart

How was that not a pen for Sporting? Keeper cleaned him out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,790 ✭✭✭Bret Hart

1-0 Gijon in the end. 8 league games and no wins for Gary.

He'll be gone by the end of February

The funny thing is is that they were not doing so badly under the previous guy.

Nuno done a great job in his 1.5 years at the club. Getting rid of him for Neville was a crazy decision.

Not appreciating Unai Emery more looks foolish now.

Defnitely. Regularly in the CL, never flapping about in mid-table and look how he's revived Sevilla. He's a very underrated manager.

Valencia are notoriously fickle fans though.

Anyone if Barca v Valencia is on anywhere? Assumed sky would have it!

According to Liveonsat ,its on hardly any channel in Europe except Spanish tv .
    Very strange.
You will have to make do with Aberdeen vs Celtic on Sky I'm afraid.

Its like boys against men out there .
The Christians to the Lions .

Is this the most bizarre transfer ever ?
Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande have signed striker Jackson Martinez from Atletico Madrid for €42 million.
Martinez, 29, signed a four-year contract, the Chinese club said on their website on Wednesday, and they also posted a tweet confirming the deal.

I'd say Atletico cant believe their luck .
Jackson has been a complete bust, but now they are not only able to recoup the money they spent on him, they also make a nice profit!
€42m+ for an almost 30 year old, injury prone, out of form striker?

Mustafi sent off and barca hit the woodwork twice in about 5 minutes, looks as good a bet as any for a team to retain the cl.

The Messi goal with the Neymar flick and Suarez dummy was sublime. I actually put my hands on my head when it went in. Different class!

I'm in the hospital and things like WiFi and 4g simply aren't available so didn't get to see the game tonight bit that result has put a smile on my face.
