Big news coming out of Spain this morning. Spanish prosecutors have filed a lawsuit against Cristiano Ronaldo for alleged tax fraud of 13 million (!) Pound. Anyone that's followed football financial scandals will know that this should come as no surprise, Ronaldo being a client of Jorge Mendes. Looking forward to some Ronaldo tax memes popping up any day now...

Ill say what I said to the Messi/Mascherano lads, anyone who cares about stuff like this needs to get a serious life. None of the players are in direct charge of there taxes/income which is why I thought it was laughable for Messi to get a sentence in the first place all hes guilty off is hiring a terrible business man/accountant

This does sound so ridiculous\childish\pitiful that it must be true.

According to El Confidencial, the press has been asked by Real not to put pictures of Ronaldo in a Real shirt when they report about his tax problems

Check out the pics used by Madrid friendly papers the next morning. Not a single one in a Madrid jersey or showing the Madrid crest. So obvious and desperate.

I picked this from a Dutch site who indeed mentioned some obliged and others didnt.

But lets not fool ourselves, if Barca hasnt requested the same in the past with Messi, they probably are now just kicking themselves that they didnt think of it.

I don't see what difference to make, tbh. You'd have to be living under a rock to not know who Ronaldo and Messi play for.

It's a matter of association and public perception and a headline about major tax fraud accompanied by a picture of a Real Madrid jersey sends the wrong message. It's basic PR stuff but still hilarious that it's Madrid.

Yes, I'm aware of that but I'd agree with infoforfun, I bet Barca are raging they didn't think of it when it happened with Messi.

Ballsy move to try by Madrid and those who followed through on it are fairly hopeless.

He was a witness in a court case against Mamic (Din Zagreb owner) and apparently they suspect him of lying in court now there.
Bit of a choosing between 2 bad things for him because you dont want to **** with the Mamic bros either.

So yes, he is in trouble but not tax related.

Not sure if it's mentioned but fifa 18 has ronaldo on the cover in a real madrid jersey and the story mode is based at real Madrid with ronaldo being in it alot. I'm sure the guys at EA are ****ing themselves just like Madrid fans.

Fair point. Not like they can patch it out, as you say it's more than likely a substantial part of the story mode.

Konami (PES 2017) probably happy out

    Ronaldo better start saving....

Di Maria fined €1.7 million for a €1.3 million tax fraud in 2013.
And 1 year in jail but just like Messi, since it is under 24 months, no prison.

Ronnie is not going anywhere ,he is less than a year into a new 5 year contract.
Buyout clause is 1 billion euro I believe.

He is just having a hissy fit .

    "Ronnie"

Please, let's not make a habit of that title!!

Also, who said he is having a hissy fit. Sounds no more than the usual tabloid ****e that surfaces about Ronaldo every Summer. This time, using the "tax fraud" element to spice it up!

    Load of nonsense!

I haven't been paying attention because I never really do with the annual Ronaldo fiction, but has he even said anything on the matter?

Of course not. But apparently John Richardson heard a private conversation with Ronaldo and Ferguson at a conference saying he wants a new challenge!

Type the words "John Richardson Ronaldo" into twitter ...............It will tell you all you need to know about this nonsense non-story. He is a parody! Here are some examples: Nov 2015 "EXCLUSIVE - Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Real Madrid in the summer. It's either PSG, Chelsea or Man Utd. (John Richardson on BeIN Sports). Nov 2014: "Live United in Press..John Richardson (Express) "We can tell you Ronaldo is very unhappy at Madrid, & keeps mentioning Utd for a move" #MUFC" Jan 2014: "Chelsea want to bid £60m for Ronaldo according to John Richardson" February 2013: "According to John Richardson on Sunday Supplement, Ronaldo is comin back to United in the summer. " The man is a parody speculator! One day he might get it right....but doubt it
