Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Will Sunderland still continue to be crap?

Will Newcastle learn how to defend?

Will Watford and West Brom bore a nation to death?

Will Reece Oxford continue his meteoric rise to overtake Lionel Messi as the greatest player to have ever lived?

And which excuse will Jose Mourinho conjur up this weekend?

Game of the day is surely Swansea v Newcastle. I see goals there.

Even as a Newcastle fan, I would have said West Ham vs Leicester myself.

Looking at the odds for Spurs vs Stoke. Stoke are 4/1 to beat Spurs. Might be worth a punt.

    Watford werent boring against Everton.

I thought they were very well organised. They sat deep when they need to and countered quickly. Saying that, Everton were muck in the first half.

It was frustrating watching us against Everton. We did well and were in control until we scored, but then we were way too content to sit back and I think we let Everton back into the game.

People are writing us off this season but I think we're the best equipped of the three to stay up. The other two are basically Championship sides, whilst we've gone out and got experienced players.

Didn't realise that there was a plane flown overhead before the game asking Kenwright and co to go.

Why do people spend money on this shíte?

    Great counter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Counter attacking football at its finest.

EDIT: Newcastle scored a very similar goal last week from the same scenario.

Great counter attacking goal for Everton

Lukaku looking the part, great finish.

Southampton are a shambles defensively. Great strength from Lukaku to win that ball initially.

    Southampton are so inconsistent.

Lukaku in beast mode. Southampton are going to suffer eventually when they keep selling their best players season after season.
Clyne and Morgan are two huge losses to their defence that served them so well last season.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,363 ✭✭✭JohnDaniels

    Southampton are so inconsistent.

Schneiderlin and Clyne are massive losses. The likes of Lallana/Lovren I feel were more easily replaceable. They still have quality in attacking areas but the kind of quality they have lost this season is massive. They do look to have bought well so maybe it will just take some time to nit together.

Good stuff from Everton here after last week's poor start. Martinez is under a bit of pressure this season and has three tough games coming up (Man City, Spurs away and Chelsea) so three points today will be huge for him. Southampton coming into it now but you feel Everton could wrap this up late on on the break.

And that folks is why I don't gamble

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,672 ✭✭✭elefant

It didn't come to anything, but that palming the ball out for a corner by Stekelenberg was one of the most pathetic pieces of goalkeeping I've seen at this level. Embarrassingly crap.

Southampton paying the price for selling off their best players?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,184 ✭✭✭✭Pighead

Barkley deserved that. Been good today. Will this be the season he finally justifies the hype that has surrounded him since he was 17? Martinez seems to have plenty of haters on boards. They won't be enjoying this.

No doubt he'll be billed as the next big thing again!

That 3 man commentary team has to go on BT. It's a mess. There's a reason pretty much every sport usually has 1 main commentator and 1 colour commentator.

While they're at it, it would be nice if Robbie Savage was gone with also.

Robbie Savage is an absolute clown. His "analysis" for the first goal was just shy of saying "Southampton really shouldn't have let him score".

He just shouts at everything he sees. "FOOTBALL IS THERE. THE GOAL WENT IN THE NET FLETCH LOLZ"

    He offers nothing.

Most commentators get a lot of stick on here and to be honest none of them really bother me (the level of hatred for Michael Owen in particular puzzles me) but I am fully on board with the Robbie Savage criticism. He is desperate. Watched an hour of that Fletch and Sav earlier as well and he is woeful on that as well. Rubbish opinions and an annoying habit of laughing way too hard at stuff that isn't particularly funny. Get rid.

Stephen Alkin will always be the worst commentator I've ever heard.

My mistake; I didn't read your post carefully enough. I was thinking Romelu, not Romeu. My apologies.

I nearly wet myself when he first reckoned that Romeu's tackle was hard but fair, then saw the replay and decided it warranted a red card and then had Glenn Hoddle and Howard Webb pretty much laugh in his face - the man is a a moron.

Tottenham = Eriksen and Lloris.... and that's about it

Like Liverpool with Suarez they sold their best player for mega money and wasted 3/4's of it

    Jasus Sunderland out!

These first two games describe West Ham in a nutshell. Fantastic team performance which leads to our first win at Arsenal in 8 years followed by a thrashing at home to Leicester. Can't remember the last time we won the first two games of the season.

    Leicester for the title?

Watching Swansea v Newcastle. Swansea look gooood. I'd say they'll cause problems for a lot of teams this season.

That said, they were helped by a dire Newcastle defence. And you have to wonder what Janmaat was thinking too.

By the looks of it, it could be a long season in the north-east.

I'd wait untill Kane produces the goods again this season - we've all seen too many one season wonders and got carried away in the past
