2011 Ford Focus Saloon - Boot not opening

The dash reports "Luggage compartment lid open" and beeps constantly while driving.

Boot won't open via key fob button(clicking noise in glovebox) or when pressing the boot button.

I've pressed down/pulled up on the boot while trying the button but no luck.

Thinking of accessing the boot from the back seats now and taking the boot trim off to see if I can see any loose wiring or if possible to release the lock somehow.

Is this a common problem in the focus? Any other pointers?

Had the same trouble with my 07 Focus estate. Double pressing the key fob might open it but it eventually gives up. The boot latch is actually a switch and gets corrosion from dampness.
Take off the interior panel to get at the unit. A quick clean and a chance to dry and a shot of Wd40 into the microswitch after taking off the rubber might get it right. Replacement from main dealer not cheap.

The switch costs about €18 and the lock itself is less than €40, it's easy to replace yourself.

The wiring harness is broken on the drivers side in the boot just where the wiring hinges most likely the black and white wire.
Let the seats down and crawl into the boot pull on the wires one by one and you will find it.

Good call martinr5232. The black and white wire was indeed broken. Once I touched them together, the boot popped open when pressing the button on the key fob. I'll try and connect the wires again and tape it up

Dont just pull the two ends together get a piece around the same thickness and add it in or the same thing will happen again.
