Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

and completely cynical foul. If he doesn't already have one the ref doesn't think twice.

Do you think the ref was a chicken?

yet it would've been a very very soft second yellow

I don't know how Coquelin doesn't get a second yellow. No attempt to play the ball, Palace breaking and completely cynical foul. If he doesn't already have one the ref doesn't think twice.
He should be gone. Nailed on yellow card, as was his first one. Poor refereeing.

There's a big bus parked on the pitch at the Ethihad already.

Better performance then agaisn't West Ham. Should have finished them well off before they scored, Wenger needs to take Coq off for his own good. We need to start taking these chances.

Personally, I don't see much difference between Coq's foul just then and Zaha on Monreal a bit earlier. Was everyone calling for a yellow for Zaha? No. Would they have been if he was already on a yellow?

It's not only the ref who has his judgement clouded when a player is on a yellow.

The thing about it is the ref deliberately got it wrong. He knows full well he should have booked him. Maybe it's good from an entertainment point of view, but it would be more entertaining for the neutral for Arsenal to have a man sent off because they're a better team than Palace.

As for the sending off, ref used common sense and discretion and it was a good call

Janmaat for Newcastle did something similar yesterday and was rightly awarded a second yellow.

That's fairly pathetic from Kos on the goal no attempt to defend it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35,514 ✭✭✭✭efb

The first Coq yellow was soft enough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,725 ✭✭✭✭blueser

Good shout from Souness there. Arsenal should get Coquelin off ASAP.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,984 ✭✭✭Soups123

Let's put it to test it could have been a yellow quite easily but the ref felt it was on the right side of the borderline

Lucky Arsenal fans unlucky opposing fans

A good call for Arsenal, sure. Nobody is doubting that.

Ah no, it was definitely a bookable offence which would have resulted in a booking were it not for the first yellow, we all know that.

Of course Arsenal fans will argue against that, completely understandable. As football fans we know the reality.

Some blame could be awarded to Sanchez too. He let Ward wander away from him with no desire to get close to him. Ok, that's not his role but he was the closest to him in the build up to that goal initially.

McArthur has a soft first yellow. Let's see what happens with him.

I'd like to think that some one has had a word with Le Coq and told him not to go diving into tackles.

Why was it a good call?

He committed a foul that should have been punished by a yellow card, right after he committed a foul that was punished with a yellow card.

The caution clearly didn't curtail his behaviour and he should rightfully have been sent off.

@FootbaIlStats: No player has scored more #BPL goals against teams managed by Alan Pardew than Olivier Giroud (8).

It's unusual to see two straight yellows on the halfway line within a few minutes and no leeway given. It's usual to get at least one further chance, same with a lot of first yellows.

Very poor goal for Palace to concede. Ward asleep at the back post, and a poor attempt to clear from Delaney. Definite OG.

Can we get a third soon please?

Bellerin was dodgy there. Not entirely sure what I make of him in truth.

He was off so won't be 100% match fit

Or at least tighten up enough defensively so that we don't look like conceding a goal every time they get the ball.

Being an Arsenal supporter is just not good for the heart.

The third goal is more achievable
