Hi , I'm just wondering which would be the best wide angle lens for a canon 500D. Would it be the canon 10_18mm IS ISM or Tokina 11-16?
    Thanks in advance .

I always wonder why you would want IS on a lens that you will mostly use for landscapes, mounted on a tripod?

Anyway, I used to have the Canon 10-22mm lens. Very nice and not too much distortion. I now have a 16-35mm, which, on a full frame body is about the same as that 10-22mm.

I'd personally always go for Canon lenses before 3rd party, since the quality control would be higher (in general).

Thanks for the reply , I was just wondering about the Tokina lense as I heard from a few people that they are excellent lenses , but I've no experience personally with them .

The Canon 10-18mm is an excellent lens for the money. Check out the reviews on YouTube - generally all very positive.

Not sure I agree about the IS - i use my wide angle lens for lots of things other than landscape.

I have the 16-35mm 2.8 Canon. Not a bad lens... not great at 16mm I find. But that could be just my version.

The 16-35L f4 is a newer lens than the 2.8 and a lot cheaper. I'd go for that one these days.

The shorter the focal length the less IS is needed to be honest.
