Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

UFC 191 was a weird event for me. Felt there were too many mismatches before a punch was even thrown in many of the fights.

John Lineker's performance reminded me of how I play the UFC game. No technique. Swing for the fences and hope for the best.

Felder/Pearson was an excellent watch and I have no doubt in my mind that they will fight again.

VanZant looks even better but Chambers just wasn't in the fight at all. It was an absolute mugging and I genuinely thought her corner was going to stop the fight after the 2nd round. I know Chambers had that crazy come from behind victory in Australia last time out but she just doesn't look at home in that Octagon.

Corey Anderson had a relatively easy night of it and made it look easy.

Likewise for Rumble Johnson. I didn't learn anything new from that fight other than Johnson has big power which we already know about and Manuwa's stock is slowly decreasing.

Mir/Arlovski was a cagey affair which was probably to be expected. Wasn't sure about the scoring in favour of Andrei though. Had Mir just ahead on my card but I guess when you stand there trying to bait an opponent in, it could go against you.

As for Mighty Mouse. Well, he's got nothing left to prove. He's a phenomenal athlete and it's a shame he gets so much hate that people can't see it.

Dodson looked overwhelmed which is surprising given that he's got all the attributes and has fought Johnson before. Maybe he put a bit too much pressure on himself leading into the fight. Either way, he looked out of sorts .

Average card in my opinion. Filled with good individual performances in largely one sided fights.

Ok, it's not the fault of the fighters when they're clearly better than their opponent but I thought it was bad match making. But when it comes to sparse divisions such as strawweight and LHW, there is a big discrepancy between top 10 and anyone below that.

Worse main card of all time? 4 of 5 fights completely one sided!

    Thank god for sky+

The lads are biased at all towards PVZ even at the start of the first round they were praising here over and over. She needs a good 18 months before she gets a title shot or she will be destroyed.

She's poor, IMO. She's being pushed based completely on her looks. Does anyone really think if she wasn't as pretty that she'd be a Reebox athlete and/or be being given such a push? She would want to hope they avoid giving her Jedrzejczyk for as long as possible because if/when they do, she will never look the same again.

Currently in the top 10, I honestly think she loses to Jedrzejczyk, Gadelha, Esparza, Aguilar, Penne, Markos, Torres, Letourneua and if her head is right Calderwood gives her trouble. The only one I would take her over at the moment is Namajunas.

Watch them give her Clarke or Rawlings next.

Anyone catch the attendance for this event, watched the prelims last night, much better than the main card however there was feck all there. Didn't really take notice during the main event.

Just googled, what a poor attendance, He is just too dominant, they should consider him on a massive card as co main.

UFC 189: 16,019 attendance ($7.2 million live gate)
    UFC 183: 13,114 ($4.5 million)
    UFC 187: 12,615 ($5.2 million)
    UFC 182: 11,575 ($3.7 million)
    UFC 191: 10,873 ($1.36 million)

I thought it was a pretty poor card before it kicked off. It's rare that there's someone on the main card who I wouldn't know.

There was definitely better fighters on the prelims to bump up to main ahead of Anderson/Błachowicz

Doubt you'd know this and it's also a bit finicky but does that include inflation?

Total gate for UFC 49 was $1,293,035 but that doesn't really stack up directly against this weekends card given it was 11 years ago.

Probably doesn't include inflation, would like to see the number of bums on seats comparison rather than dollars.

That too, yeah. It's crazy to think they were talking about packing out 80,000 seats when they were struggling to even reach 11,000.

Obviously they'd stack the card out and market it to the gills but still... Tall order imo

No inflation included. So in reality, the $1.29m is more like $1.6
But even allowing for inflation you don't need to go back much further. The previous UFC 48 only did 900k gate.

The seats for 191 are in your post above.
Seats isnt a good indicator though, as it ignores the fact the ticket prices were so low in order to sell them.

    yeah I meant for UFC49.

I don't remember the MGM been used as often over the past 5 years as it has this year. I could be wrong on that however feels like it used more often. If the circus doesn't travel as much you won't pick up the casual fans.

They used to use The Palms a few years back so I'd say that's why. Dana cut ties with them after they refused him more credit (apparently)

    UFC 149 was 12,100 (8,597 paid apparently)

They refused him credit to play a few years back, silly business move with a known gambler. But they sorted that and he was playing there mainly, but then they banned him completely last year after he won $2million playing blackjack. They said he could come back afterwards, but his bets were limited and he refused.
Can’t understand the logic there as surely you want the high rollers playing in your casino. It backfired on whatever genius decided that as staff went nuts because he apparently a huge tipper - $200k when he won $2mil, 10k on dinner etc.
The Palms eventually came back with their tail between their legs and awarded him a “blackjack champion belt”. After that they hand another event there (TUF finale last December), but looks like the Cosmo has that contract locked up now.

MM 4th on the payroll for the night, AJ takes home 280k including his bonus for his ko of Jimi, id say that's the easiest money he's ever going to make.
