Off to NYC next city next Tuesday for 4 days no plan yet

I fly out to NYC next Tuesday for 4 days and have absolutely no plan made. I arribe in JFK at 11.30 NY time and I'm staying at New Yorker near Penn Station, firstly how do I get to my hotel taxi or train, is a multitrip subway ticket a good idea. Would appreciate any tips/advice and a plan, thanks

We went to TimesSquare, broadway is right beside it.

on the far end of TimesSquare (actually known as Duffy Square) up past the WW1 statue of a celtic cross with army Chaplain Francis P Duffy standing in front of it (who served in US army of WW1), theres a raised seating area.

to the rear of this is a "TKTS" booth ,

have a look here and there are large information boards showing the upcoming shows and if TKTS have any tickets for sale.

These are legit tickets that people bought for a show but have now decided not to go so they sell them to the TKTS booth which then sells them to you at a cheaper price than normal. We arrived up an hour before phantom of the opera and bought the tickets there for 70 dollars as opposed to 120 dollars
